“A treasure on the Gorge”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

Beautiful falls with lush foliage all around. Nature at it's best all along the Gorge. A great experience to appreciate the massive amounts of water and hear the roaring of the falls as they feed the river.

“Beautiful falls that were worth the hike”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

The hike wasn't bad for a great view of these beautiful falls. It was a little steep for some in our group.

“Beautiful, just beautiful”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

Be sure to stop at these falls. Walk across the street. Enjoy the beauty of a spectacular place. There are many falls along the Columbia River Gorge. This one is special.

“Lovely cascading falls”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

Wahkeena Falls are one among the many falls that line the Columbia River Gorge as the water tumbles from the Cascades and all the falls are unique, beautiful, and inspirational (in my opinion). Wahkeena Falls are no exception, and while I would not necessarily put them at the top of any list (they are not the highest, the most stunning, etc) they carry their own brilliance. Unlike most of the larger falls which feature a "free fall" (probably not the correct term, but its what comes to mind), Wahkeena does more of a zig-zag as is goes back and forth tumbling over the stones and boulders. The falls are also a good spot to start the hike that will take you up and around to Multnomah Falls. if that sounds like to much work, though, a small little hike up to the bridge that crosses the falls is also a nice way to go.

“Another Beautiful Waterfall in the Gorge”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

Wahkeena Falls is another beautiful waterfall in the Columbia River Gorge, just a half-mile or so west of Multnomah Falls. Wahkeena is a Yakima Native American word for "most beautiful", a good description of this rather unique waterfall. You can sort of see this waterfall from the road, but to get a good view, take the quarter-mile hike up the paved trail to the nice stone bridge at the base of the falls. The total height of the waterfall is more than 200 feet, but the fall is broken into tiers and its difficult to see the entire thing at once. But that kind of adds to this waterfall's appeal. From the road, you can more less see the entire thing, but its from a distance and partially obscured by foliage. From the stone bridge, you can't see the upper portions of the falls but have good views of the lowest section. This is definitely a worthwhile stop while in the Columbia River Gorge. The waterfall is beautiful and the area is much less crowded than nearby Multnomah Falls. Photographers, in particular, will want to spend a good amount of time getting pictures from different angles.
