“Great Place to Stay!!”
Reviewed July 18, 2007

I walked in without a reservation and was able to immediately check in. The service was excellent and the room was spotless! In addition, it has a late check-out: 1:00pm!!

The morning breakfast included biscuits and gravy, eggs, yogurt, cereal, juices, milks, coffee, and cinnamon rolls!!

It's a bit far from downtown Portland. If you don't have your own transportation, you might want to stay somewhere else. However, you might find that renting a car and staying here is STILL less expensive than staying at a downtown Portland hotel that doesn't have the amentities of this one!

Friends wanted to see the Columbia Gorge and do some shopping at the outlet malls. We settled on this hotel based on Travelocity reviews. The check-in was pleasant and the room was as advertised. What wasn't advertised was the construction and renovation of the exterior, and all of the windows were covered by dirty plastic, so there was no view and the windows did not open. Front Desk said the work would continue through April 2007 and then renovation of the lobby would start sometime soon after. The days were unusually warm and muggy and the air conditioning unit was loud and noisy and was not working well the first night ,so the sleep was uncomfortable. After telling the front desk the next morning, we were surprised and delighted when we returned the second day to find that the entire unit had been replaced and a brand new quiet, efficient unit kept the room perfectly comfortable. The rooms are basic motel-type room with a few extras, such as a refrigerator and microwave. The well-stocked breakfast had a good assortment of cereals, breads and fruit, plus pre-made cheese omlettes and biscuits and gravy. There is a very small work-out room with three or four pieces of equipment and a hot tub/spa outside near the main parking lot. The location is perfect for exploring the awesome Columbia Gorge if you do not want to stray too far from Portland or the Portland airport. I would stay here again if I wanted to be near the Troutdale Outlet malls or do a park and ride to PDX.

As pictures live on in our profile forever, I just want to note that rooms have been renovated twice since the writing of this review and encourage you to take a look at the 2012 / 2013 images. No plastic over the windows either! : )

We hope you will come back and see us soon.

We pulled up here around 8pm and we were tired. The lady at the front desk gave us a family room with 2 double beds and a King for great price. We could not find another hotel to match this room for the rest of our trip. We were spoiled with the price and the size. Great clean room. Great continental breakfast. A little close to the airport. But eveything else was good!

Drain backed up in shower. Got them to remove the hair and what a difference. I also asked a room attendant where can I find the ice machine. She didn't know what I was talking about since she only speaks Spanish. I found the ice machine and showed her what I was talking about. With the illegal immigrants as an issue, this is one reason why the States needs to crack down on the crossings. If you can't speak English or know what is being asked that deals with your work environment, then you better learn.

You can't beat this, stay in a huge room with 3 to 4 beds, fridge & micro, leave your car in the hotel lot for as many days as you want and they will shuttle you to and from the Portland airport (10-15 mins. away) all for $103.00, that includes tax. The staff go out of their way for you. It was so nice being shuttle right up to the front doors of the airport terminal. The shuttle driver loaded and unloaded all of our luggage (10 huge bags, there were 5 off us traveling) We gave him a hefty tip. While we were in Kauai on vacation, the staff from the hotel called us to tell us the lights were on in our van. We had to have AAA come and break into our van and disconnect the battery. It worked, when we returned 2 weeks later, very late at night, with a 2 hour drive still to go, we did not have a dead battery. I wish we would have left our van keys with the hotel staff. I totally trust them. We did not get to take advantage of the breakfast, our shuttle left at 6:00 am, but the staff had hot, gooey cinnamon rolls for us, and hot coffee, what a great way to start a great vacation.

My family of five stayed here as a base to visit the Columbia River Gorge, and we found it to be very useful, especially if you are on a budget; we stayed two nights at a price of 103.50, AAA discount, then add 10% tax.

We had a mini-suite, with two twin beds and two doubles, cable TV, free internet connection, a smallish bathroom with a heat lamp and a separate sink area. It was very spacious but the beds were a little firm, the table had two wobbly legs, the dresser drawers had loose handles and were out of alignment, and the cable was on the wack until my husband respliced it in back (we called for assistance to fix it and they were searching for someone, but my husband figured it out). You can also pick up a free USA Today in the lobby and have a complimentary, substantial extended Continental breakfast (seats fill fast, plates are small, but you can bring it up to your room with a tray). It was good, with cheese omelets, biscuits and gravy, many pastries, a full selection of everything.

The staff and front desk is very helpful and have info on the area. It is off of Exit 17 on Oregon Highway 84, next to the Troutdale airport (you don't hear the planes at night). The exit also has access to the Columbia Gorge Outlet stores, and many fast food and diner-type restaurants. Downtown/old town Troutdale is nearby as well, with McMenamin's Edgefield restaurant and a great place called Tad's Chicken and Biscuits (a homey road-house type restautant with great smoked salmon chowder and yes, chicken and biscuits).

There is no pool, but there is a smallish spa area.

We would stay here again for a couple of nights. It was a very reasonable place, for the price.

We were looking for a place to stay as a base for exploring the Gorge. The staff was so helpful and it is a really clean place. I selected this place based on the reviews here and they were all right on.

If you're into shopping there's an outlet mall within 5 minutes.
