Take this drive anytime of year and you are in sight of how bold the people were who designed this highway. The smaller the car the better the drive. Corners are fablous.

My grandpa took my grandma to the Vista House on their first date. I recently took my girlfriend and asked her to be my finance up here. The Columbia River Highway has views only paralleled by Mount Hood, Highway 101 and Crater Lake in Oregon. Great spot to visit or go for a Sunday afternoon stroll without having to drive more than 45 minutes from Portland.

One of the most scenic, unspoiled drives you will ever experience. A great photography adventure with lots of scenic stops along the way.

The Columbia River Highway was built for folks from Portland to get up into the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge to enjoy what nature has to offer! Built in the early 1900's, it was an amazing project with fantastic tunnels and rockwork. It brings you face to face with giant Basalt Lava cliffs, gorgeous waterfalls, towering giant trees and green green plants of all types. There is water water everywhere, and it is a great get away from the hustle and bustle, and once you really get into it, you can forget that busy I84 is right nest door!

I took my first trip on the Columbia River Highway in 1955 and have never tired of the drive and the views. Whether I drive straight through, or I visit one of the waterfalls and hike one of the many scenic trails and then stop off at one of my favorite restaurants for a meal, it is all good for my soul.
