We did not stay here, just visited for a few hours. As we were about to depart the lobby after lunch we stumbled upon a movie showing how Timberline came to be built, how it was built and why it was built as the solid structure it still is today. It is well worth 15 mins to learn about this Historic Lodge. We went back into the lobby with new eyes to look at all the details of the wrought iron, the stone, the solid furniture, and the fabrics. The mountain is of course the main attraction, but the lodge deserves a second look.

Do not miss the Timberline Lodge!!! The lodge is very rustic and very cozy. The view of the mountain peak is breath taking! We visited during June and the children were able to play in the snow:). We had lunch in the lodge it is a little pricey but the food is good and the portions are large - so it is a pretty good value....the hot chocolate was WONDERFUL so be sure to order that as an afternoon "warm-up" snack!!!

The Lodge is exquisite, rustic and beautiful. They've worked hard to maintain it in its original condition. Rooms vary, all are appointed with NW furnishings. The food is so-so and very expensive. Skiing @ T/Line is great fun, many runs for every experience level. The Palmer lift is beyond compare offering 360 vistas on a clear day.

This spot was recommend to us as a place to go for a good meal and great view after a day of touring the gorges. This a a grand dame of a lodge that was built as a WPA project and it has been loving brought back to it's former glory. While food was okay in the main dinning room , I far more enjoyed having funky drinks and fondue on the second floor loft area where you get a good view of the activity happening in the foyer as well great views of the mountain. Make sure to leave time to walk around the lodge , lots of interesting nooks and cranks. FYI - fill your gas tanks before you start the drive. We left the mountain around 9PM and there was no gas station open for the next 30 miles, we coasted into the first gas station on fumes and prayer.

If you are in the area.....you should go. Great Depression WPA project at its best. The outside is classic lodge; the inside is a trip back in time and a visit to the art work that the WPA brought to the country to help put people back to work. While there, have a drink in the lounge. Rooms aren't cheap, but spend a night, and if you do, use the pool. Swim with snow all around you. And the view from the lodge is not half bad either.
