The sign said scenic area so we didn't know we were walking to a waterfall. It was a short walk on a well-maintained trail. The creek by the trail runs fast and noisy. We came around a corner and there were these stunning falls.
The trail is closed to the water, but the view is just fine.We stepped a bit past the sign and could see that there were downed trees and it was slippery. We couldn't even see a trail up the falls cliff. I don't blame them for closing it, people being what they are. For so little effort this is a pretty rain forest and falls view.

Take this ultra short - 1/4 mile - hike to see largest waterfall in coast range. Good for families -- kids & elderly should easily manuever the gravel trail. The end of trail is closed by gate & I hope the state cleans up the fallen tree soon for an even closer view. Very pretty.

the falls parking area is a few miles off HWY 101 down a gravel road. There is no one there when we visited and it was nice and peaceful. The trail is closed to the base of the falls due to downed trees but we walked around the sign and walked to the base of the falls. Not easy as a lot of trees downed but the kids liked the adventure.

Who wants to see that after making the trip along a dirt road and walking for 20 minutes! We were left speechless. No signs were posted along the main road indication that we could not even get close to the falls. What ARE they thinking?!!
