“With just a slight adjustment....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

My wife and I had the chance to eat at McCormick and Schmicks the other night and found the service was outstanding. Since we arrived during the dinner hour the restaurant was pretty busy, however our server was very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions, specials and great service. My wife ordered a parmesan crusted sole and I had the seared Ahi tuna. We also ordered a bowl of chowder and an appetizer of calamari. The chowder and calamari were great! Nice flavor and presentation. My course of Ahi was wonderful. It was served perfect, a nice sear on the outer flesh, while remaining rare in the middle. The plating was beautiful. On the other hand, we both had a problem with the sole. It was coated with a parmesan batter then ( it appeared) to be pan fried. Sole is a pretty delicate fish and the parmesan was very overpowering. Also, when you fry parmesan it has the tendency to soak up the oil in your pan. I hate to nit-pick, but it made it very salty and greasy tasting. Chef should give the fish just a light dusting of parmesan after a quick pan sear. It would really let the flavor of the sole come through.
Overall, by no means a bad experience, just a dining experience that could be awesome with a few small adjustments to the food prep.

“Nice Stop For Weary Travellers”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

After a long day's drive north from Sacramento, it was great to find quality dining right off the highway. Finding a parking spot was not easy, but once inside we were warmly greeted and seated right away in a comfortable, quiet booth. The wine list was quite good, although not as many Northwest wines as we might have expected. The starter salads were fine, and our entrees, sole and salmon, were quite acceptable, but not outstanding. As usual in U.S. restaurants, portions were too large, and since we were still on the road the following day, we couldn't have the remains packaged up to go. Next time the two of us will share one entree. Service was friendly and efficient in a relaxed atmosphere. If close proximity to I-5 is welcome, this is a fine place to dine.

“Wonderful Wedding Rehearsal Dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2013

We hosted a rehearsal dinner for a sizeable group of people (May 10) and I was very pleased. They have a couple of private rooms; we had the larger of two. Loved the atmosphere and decor, with lots of wood and stained glass. There is also a beautiful bar area. Our group had a very enjoyable experience and was pleased with the food. The servers were excellent. Everything went smoothly. We'd dropped our decorations off earlier in the day. When returning prior to the dinner to set them out they'd already done so and beautifully. We were able to relax until our guests arrived. Sara, their event planner, was very helpful and gracious. Parking can be a little challenging at times but I heard no complaints.

“Mothers Day....not so great...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

We had a Mother's Day "brunch" here and we were disappointed with the selection. First, there was a very limited breakfast offering, consisting of 2 Eggs Benedict dishes and a Banana Foster French Toast with caramelized nuts dishes. The Benedict was pretty average with the poached eggs over a crab cake with a smattering of diced potatoes. The French toast was pretty tasty and plentiful, so that was the better dish. Other than a few other non breakfast specials, the only offered the dinner menu, which we thought was ridiculous since we were there at 11 am and I wanted a sandwich or possibly a burger, not a steak or an overpriced fake "Kobe" burger. The waitress showed me the lunch offering menu but we couldn't order off of it. I think management wanted to sell the more expensive dinner entrees instead of the lunch menu, and this was a very poor decision. Obviously they don't know breakfast. They did offer the three moms a free dessert which were three chocolate truffle treats which was very nice. The place was half empty which meant that others found a better brunch place, but I imagine the people coming for dinner enjoyed the place much more. Management has to rethink this Mother's Day "brunch" thing better in the future or don't offer meals till dinner....they should serve lunch at lunch time! We certainly will never go back to this place for Mothers Day again. Although they were almost empty when we were there, the service was slow, more like a dinner service than a lunch service mentality.

“Great Service, Food & Experience - Parking is difficult”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

We had an excellent experience at this McCormick restaurant. Although the parking lot looked like it was mobbed, it turned out the restaurant wasn't full. We were promptly seated and served. The food was excellent and well prepared. Our server was very attentive, friendly and helpful. The lobster cobb salad was excellent. Overall this was a great experience. The only caveat we can add it to use valet parking or park in the garage and walk over. Considering the amount of food you get the walk after dinner will do you good.
