Cool decor and food is always great. The Dalles Inn give discounts too. Desserts are to die for! Prime rib french dip melts in your mouth but all food is great here.

The Baldwin Saloon is a restaurant along the train tracks in The Dalles. The inside has exposed brick, woodwork and art with a view of the foothills, and the staff is very nice. If you are looking for fried, cheese or bacon-saturated food, then this is a good option for you. However, those looking for healthier food options, or vegetarians/vegans, will find almost nothing on this menu, which is heavy on fried foods and meat (e.g., fried seafood and chicken to bacon and blue cheese-covered burgers.) One thing out-of-towners may want to try is the bacon-wrapped dates the Baldwin is known for. I would give the menu 2.5 stars for quality and pricing and the atmosphere a 3 to 3.5. (Most menu items are at least $11.)

We stopped here on our way to Portland-and we're glad we did! All the food seems homemade and it's all delish! Large portions. The paintings on the wall were a little off-putting (naked ladies, everywhere.) But I would suggest getting the stuffed mushrooms and any burger!

We loved everything about our dinner at Baldwin Saloon. We had date/chèvre appetizer wrapped in bacon, Ruben soup, hula sandwich (honey ham, grilled pineapple, Swiss and cream cheese on fresh-made French bread) and triple-chocolate decadent dessert. Wow! Everything was so delicious, and our friendly, attentive server topped it all off. When we asked if we could buy a loaf of their French bread to take with us they gave us two loaves for free. Remarkable.

Historical place, but still the best food that is all made from scratch. Great employees that constantly provides great customer service. This is my place to go when I head to The Dalles!
