Terrebonne is a small town and seemingly the only good reason to stop is to head towards Smith Rock Park. Why stop to eat when the great places in Bend are just down the road? The Depot offers that reason.
I didn't really expect such a classy place in such a small and rural place. A restored and modernized old depot off the well used US 97 about a mile towards Smith Rock. A great place to visit by the way! Otherwise it would seem to be off the beaten path a bit.
Menu looked good but I wanted a burger. I just wanted a regular burger but the "South of the Border" burger with Monterray Jack, mango, red cabbage slaw and Jalapeno peppers looked interesting. And it was great.
I barely had room for the bread pudding. You have to understand that I've been on a world wide search for the best bread pudding and theirs looked interesting.
Challah bread with bananas, semi sweet chocolate, home made caramel sauce and Eberhart's vanilla bean ice cream. I'm not from this area and always in search of good ice creams and this is from a family owned dairy in Redmond who make some very good premium ice creams. Must be the contented cows looking at the amazing views of the Cascade Mountains. Altogether that was a very good and interesting bread pudding.
Good choice to make that turn off the highway to a very nice place, friendly and helpful staff, great views of the park and the mountains with a fine burger and amazing bread pudding..
