or maybe Bend. Had a wonderful meal with friends on a Tuesday eve. and the restaurant was full. We had one waitress and she was great with so many customers to please. We had the fabulous Duck Breast, Ribeye and the Salmon, with various salads, everything was fresh and cooked to perfection.White table cloths and napkins with flowers on the table. It was a cold Oct. night so all were inside. They do have outside seating for warmer weather. We had a great experience with all the good food and the wait staff. Looking forward to another visit.

“South Bend Bistro Does It Right”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

This is another Bend restaurant we frequent whenever we are in town (always making sure to have reservations). The menu selections are suitably varied without being overwhelming. the atmosphere is nice and service properly attentive. The seafood dishes are consistently excellent, but based on this visit and past experience you can't really go wrong with any of their selections. The soups are rich and tasty, and it is hard to save room for their wonderful desserts (particularly their chocolate mint icebox "cake" which is really more like a grasshopper pie with an Oreo crumb crust). If you can't save enough room to eat your own dessert, at least order one and share. A really wonderful evening is to eat dinner here before going to the Oregon Observatory also in Sunriver for night time sky viewing.

“Unexpected excellence.....”
Reviewed September 24, 2013 via mobile

The Bistro is very small, maybee seats 35 people, so reservations on a weekend are a must. My wife and I are Trip Advisor faithfulls and again found all of the previous reviews to be spot on regarding the quality of our meal and excellent service provided.

This was totally unexpected in a small resort area.

“Awesome Dining Experience”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

Last night my wife and I wanted a fine dining experience in Sunriver so we tried the Soutn Bend Bistro. The ambiance, food and presentation far exceeded our expectations. The wait staff is congenial and knowledgeable. The macadamia nut encrusted sturgeon was the best I have ever tasted. Thanks and hats off to the crew at South Bend Bistro.

“Small restaurant”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

Our first experience at South Bend Bistro was so nice we went back with a guest a week later. That first time was excellent: we had the best tuna tartare EVER, served with a bit of crispy potato and sauce of lemon/sesame oil. Mushroom puree (the soup du jour) was also excellent. We both had grilled halibut, served with simple steamed vegetables, and lovely macadamia coconut tarte for dessert. Our server/hostess described it as reminiscent of Southern pecan pie. The wine list is very limited, but adequate.
Our second visit was, alas, disappointing. Service was very slow and they weren't offering the tuna tartare that evening, just a version of scallops. Pear salads were okay, not great; scallops as entrée and duck were adequate. Again, unadorned vegetables like those I'd serve at home.
The interior atmosphere is zip: dim lighting, crowded and claustrophobic. It's much nicer on the patio. The restaurant, because of its size and expense, does not draw the noisy masses of vacationers and children.
