We had fish and lasagna dishes at our table. The fish was cooked perfectly and the lasagna was served piping hot. The atmosphere was nice for a relaxed meal and quiet enough for table conversation. The wait staff were pleasant and helpful. We will definitely return.

Our party of 9 celebrated a birthday dinner here last night. The menu, food and service were all outstanding. It will be a "must" everytime we return to Sunriver.

We did not have reservations, but figured we were going early evening and it shouldn't be an issue. When we entered there was only 1 couple inside and maybe 4 small groups on the patio. We had to practically walk into the kitchen before anyone came out to greet us. We asked if we could look at a menu, and they obliged. We glanced the menu over and there seemed to be enough that my wife, 11-year-old son and I would like. When the person who gave us the menu came back out of the kitchen he said they wouldn't be able to seat us. We were kind of dumbfounded, since there were so few people. He said that they had several reservations coming in about 40 minutes, and they don't have the kitchen to cook for too many people.

The sense I got was that they saw the 11-year-old boy and were discriminating against kids. Interestingly they turned away two subsequent groups that had kids and no reservations. For a resort that is so family oriented it was surprising to see a restaurant that seemed anti-kids.

This is by far the best restaurant in Sunriver, offering wonderful cuisine and service. Recommend getting an early reservation as they run out of dishes early.

Had a wonderful dinner at the South Bend Bistro tonight. Location, while in the Sunriver Village, is slightly out of the way from most traffic. We were seated with the hot 6:00 PM sun beaming into one seat; when asked for a different table were advised all were spoken for. FWIW, some tables sat empty throughout our meal, and another couple with the same issue was moved immediately. This was the only downside of the experience.

The co-owner, Jamie, took our order and was extremely pleasant and gracious at every interaction. The balance of the servers/wait staff smiled but were not chatty or forward. It was clear they were working at a very fast pace.

Ranging from $18-$29, the food is a little more highly priced than any other restaurant in the Village, and likely comparable to the mid range at the Sunriver Resort restaurants. The quality of the meals was fabulous; in describing the plates Jamie was obviously proud with the offerings and the preparation, with good reason.

We highly recommend the South Bend Bistro and will definitely return.
