The food may taste good (although fairly fatty and unhealthy), But STAY AWAY from the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) at Gateway in Springfield, Oregon. The Owners/Management believe the way to deal with a customer complaint is to make lame excuses, resort to calling the customer names as the customer is walking away and in general act like an unruly child who has just been scolded by their parent. How does this infantile behavior reflect upon the IHOP name? Something to think about too, is if the Management acts this way, can you feel comfortable in the restaurant with this attitude trickling down to the cooks and waitstaff? For what it's worth I have never had anything but pleasant service by the waitstaff.
The mens restroom is sub par and outdated, the booths show greater than normal amount of wear and and the roof leaks when it rains. There are MANY other fine restaurants located closely to this shell of it's former self (I have been a patron of this establishment for over forty years). My suggestion is to try out Hop Valley, Elmer's, Denny's, Outback, Applebees,, RoadHouse or Shari's restaurants and if none of those appeal to you taste than drive to Valley River Center for a half dozen more selections. The Owners/Management don't deserve to be in the hospitality sector if they can't grow up and understand the customer pays their bills.
I actually feel no pleasure in writing this, but it has to be said. The name of IHOP deserves better than this place.
