We enjoyed our night at Ponderosa Lodge. The ground floor king room was nicely decorated in a western theme , the bed was comfortable with lots of pillows , sheets were a good quality. The spacious grounds with chipmunks, llamas, and visiting deer made for a relaxing evening. The pool and hot tub were clean. This motel has owners who take pride in it, and we will most certainly stay there again!

Room was nice, as was the view, but the excuse about not having a full /continental was pretty weak, considering that we stayed in the city about 40 miles east a few months later and the people in the Best Western there said that they had never heard of the reasons were were given.! It wasn't that big a deal, but why lie - hey - can you put out the breakfast food or do we go to a diner? I would recommend the accommodations but not the honesty of the place!

While we are glad you enjoyed the accomodation, it is disconcerting to have you feel we lied about our ability to provide certain breakfast items. We are limited by the health department as to what we can offer. With limited space, we are not premitted to cook food items other than the make-your-own waffles (which took several months to have the health department approve). We do offer the waffles, hot & cold cereals, yogurt, hard boilded eggs, assorted muffins, danish, and bagels with cream cheese, english muffins, peanut butter, jams, honey, fresh fruit, juices, coffee, assorted teas, hot chocolate, hot cider, and milk.

Ponderosa Lodge is located just outside the main drag of Sisters,so just next to a very busy road in a pine (ponderosa I suppose) wood.
The road isn't much of a problem as most of the rooms face a large grassy field with a 'lama!' enclosure and small swimming pool.
The reception is straight forward, as you would expect in any motel and because the hotel has a lot of rooms it's best to drive to your room as corridors tend to be rather long and neverending.
The room itself we had was the standard room, quite big with balcony facing the field on a first floor. The room itself was extremely dark, rather like a cave, so we had to put lights on even though outside the sun was brightly shining through the clouds.
There is a laundry room on site so handy for washing those sweaty clothes and some vending machines are dotted about for the refreshments.
Breakfast is served next to the reception in rather cramped conditions, but the choice is surprisingly large.
All in all it's a decent motel but don't expect lodge style facilities, nor service so it's not exactly a holiday destination as some other reviewers have made this out to be. Are you travelling through from Mt Hood down south then it's a reliable stop over for a night or so. Personally next time I would try a b&b in the centre of Sisters itself.

Grandma who traveled with my daughter and 5 yr old grandson for 3 days just to 'see the Sisters OR' area. I didn't expect much from the hotel--figuring same old, same old. Not so! We stayed in a suite which spacious enough to be a small apartment and it was so nice we just felt so comfortable. I totally suggest a deluxe suite if you can afford it. Big jetted tub, gorgeous room and a bed so large it was like two kings put together! We all 3 slept in the same bed and no problem at all. The swimming pool area was very comfortable. Patio and small chairs on deck outside sliding rooms made for perfect sitting and relaxing and sharing a glass of wine at end of day staring at pool and llamas. Although close to the 'main drag' which is VERY noisy and cuts the town in half--you don't hear ANY of it from the room. So that was no problem whatsoever. It was a long walk from the lodge into the area of shops on the main drag--made longer by the fact that there is no sidewalk on the main drag from the shopping area to the lodge and it's too dangerous to try that route. You have to walk some back streets out of the way and kinda go around to get into town walking, making it a little longer. Not much of anything for a 5 yr old to do there though in Sisters--we found their local playground which is nice but has almost no equipment and we used it twice so he could get his 'wiggles out'. It would be GREAT if the hotel would put in a small playground area on that HUGE expanse of lawn they have...but I realize they already do such a nice job and provide so much it's probably asking too much. But a kid needed a way to get some wiggles out. Anything would have helped. Tot sized basketball court? Big wheel track? The llamas were a fun addition but once you've fed them and done it, well...it's done. Front desk folks were not always cheerful, but they always answered questions fully. The continental breakfast area really turned us off--atmosphere there was dismal and small, so we ate in town. But five thumbs up on the room! And lots of little squirrels running ALL OVER the hotel grounds to watch and laugh at.

This is a great hotel for both families and couples. It is just outside the main downtown strip of Sisters, Oregon, so it is quiet after dark but within walking or driving distance of most restaurants and shops in Sisters. It has an outdoor pool and whirlpool which is well kept and family-friendly. There is also a self-service laundry facility on the property. The rooms are comfortably furnished and large. There are llamas on the property which I thought would be kind of tacky, but they were actually very interesting to watch and the hotel takes good care of them, and is proud of their herd. Kids like to visit them!
My husband lost a hat while we were there and the staff did everything they could to locate it before we left. I was pleasantly surprised to get a call a month later from the staff to tell me they had the hat in their lost and found and were sending to us. That is the kind of staff they have.

We stayed in one of the suites and the room was beautiful with a jacuzzi tub for 2 and a separate tile shower. Open log beams and log bed all added to the feel. The king bed was very comfy as well. We used the pool and the hot tub outside as well which was nice. One big added bonus was all the deer and squirrels you can see in the morning on your way to breakfast. The breakfast was tasty as well with a good selection and everything was fresh.

Only complaints I can think of are that the rain shower head in the shower made it practically impossible to rinse shampoo or conditioner out of your hair and the comforter on the bed was wool which does not feel very good on the skin.

We loved this motel! The grounds are beautiful and spacious. The room, with a tasteful western decor was delightful. Beds and multiple pillows were great. The continental breakfast served in a wonderfully decorated "breakfast room" was plentiful and tasty!. We would definitely stay here again!
