“Photographic Opportunities all year round!”

Visiting these falls is a must do for anyone traveling the Mackenzie river area. Located right off the highway, they are easy to get too, and the cool blue green waters and occasional rainbows make for lovely photographs.

“Worth the drive out of Sisters”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2012

If you take the McKenzie Pass, stop at Sahalie Falls. The view is great and the angles make photos look good too. If you are in reasonable health and good shape, take the 0.6 mile hike to Koosah Falls. The view here is not as good as the new growth trees are tall enough to block a very good view of the falls.

If you want a real workout, go ¼ mile south of the Koosah falls turnoff to the dam and lake below the falls. There you will find a 4.2 mile hike. It is very rocky and not for those that are out of shape. However the first mile along the river (turn right at the marker to enter the trail) is along the McKenzie river and is not all that difficult. You can get an excellent photo of Sahalie falls from the trail.

Worth the stop...so much water crashing over the lava rock. Part of the loop drive ...can we do the loop?

“MacKenzie River Flows Fast and Full”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2012

We hiked along the section of the MacKenzie River that included both Sahalie and Koosah Falls. The trail is well-maintained and the rushing water is a contrast to the serene and beautiful forest with sun-dappled trees. This is a gorgeous and very accessible hike that is close to the road and reflects Oregon in all its splendor.

“I stop almost every time I go by”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2012

Wonderful rest stop with a nice waterfall. One can walk for 90 seconds and get a good view, or hike a half mile or so to be closer to the water. I have taken people on wheelchairs, too. One can quickly lose oneself with the experience with nature. This refreshes the soul. Not to be missed. Take a few moments for this gem.
