“Amazing lake, relaxing, off the grid "camping"”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

I thought you had to travel outside the US to see water like this. Absolutely stunning. The campground has a couple of tent sites and rv hook ups but mostly boasts the cabins. All of the cabins are not created equally. Read the Linn County reservation site descriptions very closely. For example I believe that both cabin #2 and #16 are listed as double rustic but #2 has electrical outlets and #16 does not. If you are going with a friends, they should be good ones, many of the cabins seems to have curtains for interior doors and not doors. All the cabins are old but have propane lighting and stoves as well as heat. A major surprise for us was that this campground DOES NOT HAVE FIRE RINGS. That is right - no campsite fires. There is a community fire ring and one in the day use area. Most people, including us did not seem to know this. Any cooking means on the propane stove (which is pretty nice and powerful but you need your own pans).

The lodge has a kitchen with pretty basic fare and some convenience store-type amenities such as Tylenol, marshmallows, ice - even fishing rods! The best deal there is an ENORMOUS cup of vanilla ice cream for $2.50.

You can rent row boats (no motors allowed) for $30 a day or $15 an hour. There is a $5 fee for the boat launch if you bring your own. The lake is stocked and the fishing is good. This was a fun and relaxing place to be. Don't expect cell phone service and bring what you need.

There are nice hot showers too.

The resort is incredible and the lake is truly unlike anywhere else i have ever seen. My primary purpose in going is typically to dive, it is some of the clearest water anywhere which is a huge appeal to divers. The cabins are very nice and a great place to stay; the main lodge area has a restaurant, the food is well priced and tastes very good after a mornings dives. My one and only complaint is the main park ranger there. He is terrible, and has come close to ruining a couple trips for me there. He seems to have a vendetta against divers and it almost felt like harassment at times, seemed he made a point to follow us around and was very condescending and disrespectful; despite getting nothing but the utmost respect from myself and my diving buddy. Also his complaints about it being summer and not liking all the people there was definitely very unprofessional. I do wish i recalled his name.. but alas. It is always worth a trip if you are a diver, or couple wanting to get away for a couple days, just try to avoid the Ranger.

Room Tip: If you are a diver get the cabins farthest north, great entry point for diving the north end of the...

Clear Lake is a beautiful spot for relaxation and family fun. The resort has cabins for overnight stays, both "rustic" (no plumbing) and "modern" (toilet, sink and shower). The campground showers and toilets are nearby the cabins, and potable water is available from numerous outdoor pumps, so "rustic" was not too inconvenient if you're used to campgrounds.

The cabins themselves are small and older, but reasonably tidy. Each has a small propane stovetop for cooking. The "rustic" cabin my brother stayed in was a single-room unit (no privacy here), with a bed & futon on the ground floor, a mattress in the small loft above. It was cute and well maintained, The "modern" we stayed in had a four-top stove, sink, and refrigerator. It had two separate wood-paneled bedrooms which were small, but functional.

NOTE: you must bring in your sheets & pillows, towels, and dishes, etc. They have a cleaning staff, but this is pretty basic campling here - no room service. No cell phone reception either.

The resort is also for day use, and has a small snack shop and other sundries. The nearest convenience store is 22 miles away, so be sure to bring in what you need.

The lake and grounds are the major plusses here, It's quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. The lake itself is indeed clear and VERY cold (swimming is for the adventurous only). Aside for one car path for access for the cabins, it's pretty pedestrian- and kid-friendly. The resort provides boat rentals at a reasonable cost. Lots of walking trails around, too: I recommend the 5 mile walk around the lake on the well-marked trails.

I do recommend the nearby attractions, particularly the Sahalie and Koosah Falls. The Three Sisters are a remarkable sight as well. This is a great and beautiful getaway
