“Close your eyes and go on in, Pardner”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

I heard that the joint was recently sold and now it was "different." My guests didn't think so. You get a salad, refillable quart of lemonade, ice teas, or, no kidding, Arnold Palmers, being a mixture of lemonade and ice tea. Then comes a bowl of beans. Then you get a two inch thick steak about7 inches across. $27, no tax. Took the rest of the steak home (they give you a bag so bring a cooler) This place is 50 miles out across the desert, then turn right for another 5 miles, to a run down shack. We had varying opinions on why the table was so sticky, from "Wonder when the health inspector was last here?" to "Eeeyu" to "Maybe someone spilled lemonade on the lacquered table and the lacquer turned soft". Well, no-one got sick (but we kept our utensils in our hands anyway, not on the table) and we all agreed, one tasty steak and a good baked potato. Desert was included, strawberry shortcake--the worst part of the meal because the strawberries were pre-frozen and the whipped cream wasn't, but then hey, the last time I ate on the range, that's exactly what the strawberry shortcake was like, so who's complaining.

“Fun dinner”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

After reading and hearing friends talk about The Cowboy DInner Tree my wife and I decided it was time to make the drive to Silver Lake, Oregon. We met family for a few days in the Silver Lake and Summer Lake area, what fun. We had seven o'clock reservations and had pre-ordered our steak and chicken dinners. We were quickly seated and served our drinks and salad along with incredible yeast rolls. As we ate we enjoyed looking at ll the artifacts from ranching days that decorated the room. Next came bean soup and then the steak (roast) it was huge cooked very well and seasoned nicely. fortunately we had been warned to bring a cooler for the leftovers and we enjoyed the meat for several more days. With the drive back to our motel we realized not serving alcohol is a smart choice.

“Pure awesomeness!”
Reviewed August 6, 2013 via mobile

This place rocks. My friends and I were running the Cascade Lakes Relay and had a few hours to kill in Silver Lake while the other van of runners did their thing. We saw the sign and decided to check it out. We are glad we did! The food was amazing, the owners were lovely and the dog, Vinny, was adorable. We ate outside at a picnic table and watched the sun set over the ranch. There are also a couple of cabins for rent. The steaks were the largest I've ever seen. Dessert was amazing. Make a reservation well in advance, however. We were lucky and they had enough food for us without a reservation but it's not worth the risk of missing this place.

“Cowboy Dinner Tree Wow!”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

Had heard about this place from some friends and we were not disappointed. This is about as unique and rustic a place with Western History as you can find. Once we arrived we were greeted by a staffer that sat us down immediately. You are then given a refreshment of iced tea, lemon aid, or water, followed with salad and hot oven fresh rolls freshly baked and served with butter. After that homemade bean soup. Once finished comes your selected Whole Chicken, or a 32oz. Top Sirloin steak absolutely seasoned to perfection and cooked medium, medium rare. You can not eat it all. Then comes a multi berry type short cake. And all for $27.00 per person. We are already planning a second trip with friends.

“A lot of food..”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

Yes, a lot of food. Half a chicken or enough meat to last you a week.
Nothing fancy. Basic service.
I have been there 3 or 4 times now with friends who wanted to visit the place.
I even spent the night in one of the cabins they rent.
The sky at night is gorgeous. You can see a million stars..
The rustic feel of the cabin is "unique" too.
The food is what I would consider, in any other restaurant, mediocre.
Hit and miss with the meat: sometimes good, sometimes tough.
Last time they had run out of another side dish, so they ended up giving us beans...
The bread is good, and the dessert, again, mediocre.
I guess if you like quantity over quality this is your place. Mine, not so much anymore.
