Minus: Older Building
The Ebb Tide has been around for a while. The walls are not very well insulated, the fixtures are worn and it takes a while for the hot water to arrive. This make it a definite 2 star hotel.

Plus: They are working on it.
Our room was freshly painted and the furniture was brand new. Also it was very clean.

Plus: Great View & Location
Seaside is a resort town built along a deep beach with a promanade (wide sidewalk-no vehicles allowed) that runs along it. There are about 15 hotels that run side by side all along the promanade and butt right up to it. The Ebb Tide is on the north end of the promanade, so the foot traffic isn't as busy as further south. The beach is right outside the window and a 1 minute walk past the parking lot.

Plus: Secluded pool
Several of the hotels have their pool and exercise room front and center, first floor along the promanade where everyone can watch you (and your children). The Ebb Tide's pool, hot tub, sauna and exercise room are on the back side, very private. The pool is sparkling clean and looks like it as been recently tiled. The water temperature is perfect so that it makes a great place to hang out when the inevitable rain arrives.

Plus: nice upgrade
When we asked for a double queen room with a kitchenette, they offered us an upgrade. For $10.00 more we could have the 2nd queen in a separate bedroom. That was a good option for our family.

Plus: Great service
The Ebb Tide is a family run business and they were quite attentimve to our needs. They gave us a great tip on a local restaurant (Dundees) the we loved and happily rescued my son's flying toy from the roof.

Minus: The Cost!
Seaside and Cannon Beach are popular beach spots for the Portland, OR set, so the prices are high and reservations policies are strict (72 hour cancelation notice inforced). The Ebb Tide was one of the more reasonable choices at $147.00 a night for a double queen with a kitchenette (no free breakfast). We could have stayed further south at Lincoln City at a nicer hotel for $79.00. Our favorite Oregon Beach hotel - the 4 star Overleaf in Yachats would have been $10.00 cheaper (and includes a very nice breakfast bar).

Would we stay again?
If we came to Seaside we would definately stay at the Ebb Tide. However, due to the cost and the crowd, we would probably choose a town further south.

Tips: don't choose a 1st floor room anywhere along the promanade if you value your privacy.

Try Dundees family restaurant or their bar next door (on Broadway). Don't miss their Texas Eggrolls.

If you have young children be sure to take in the very kid friendly aquariam next to the Ebb Tide and the hand carved Carausel at the Carausel Mall.

Our stay at the Ebb Tide was in October 2007 and was for our Anniversary. We stayed in a 2Bedroom unit on the 2nd floor with an Ocean view. Our unit had a Kitchenette which served our purposed for out 2 night stay perfectly. Our room was clean, with a fireplace, and a large window the width of the room to view the beach and hear the sounds on the beach and the surf. However, with the window closed all of the sounds of the beach are kept out. At night, open the window and sleep to the sounds of the waves and the salt air will make you sleep like a baby. The Ebb Tide is located about 2 blocks north of the “turn-around” and on “The Prom” which runs the length of the town right along the beach. You can walk from the Ebb Tide to almost any area of Seaside.

Go to http://www.seasideor.com/ and check out that Seaside has to offer. Seaside Oregon is a great place to spend a couple of day, or a month. There are plenty of activities, great places to eat, and one never gets tired of watching the surf. The beach is broad with many scheduled activities throughout the year. Any season is a good time to visit Seaside. There are plenty of activities for every age group, from Arts & Crafts to the famous “Merry-go-round”, to cinemas, to outlet shops.

A short drive south from Seaside is the community of Canon Beach, which is another great little community with lots of shops, and more great places to eat. The beach has the famous “Haystack Rock” and one must eat at Mo’s, which is right on the beach south of the downtown area.

We did have a problem with the vent of the gas fireplace having a malfunction. It was not venting properly and caused us to become ill. We opened the windows and called the front office and the repairs were made in a prompt time.

The Ebb Tide http://ebbtide.citysearch.com has a sister resort (High Tide) “south” of the “turn-around” and is also a great place to stay. From this website you can download and print a coupon for a free nights visit.

My family and I took a spur of the moment trip to Seaside and the only room we could find was at The Ebbtide Motel. We got a partial view room w/balcony, 1/2 kitchen, fireplace, queen bed and a sofa fold out and it was wonderful. The room was huge compared to other hotel room and the jetted tub was Heaven. Our children the 3 and 6 had a great time. They would come out of the pool and head straight to our tub in the room and continue to play. Our room was clean. Maybe we went on a good day or maybe others need to stop finding every little thing to pick at and enjoy their trip. We were walking distance from everything which was great.... Over all we had a GREAT trip and plan on going back this March with our two newest additions to the family and know we will enjoy The Ebbtide every bit as much as we did the first time:):) Thanks for a great hotel...

I have bought several gift certificates at Christmas time over the years. In the past, the office staff has been very helpful and friendly. The one I got today was rude and didn't seem to care. Unfortunately for the Ebb Tide Inn, they "closed" their corporate office during the holidays, so wouldn't send the certificates out until after Christmas. In the past, they have emailed the certificates directly from the motel and assured me that they would be there in time for Christmas. I had called just several days before Christmas as I had just thought about it, and that's when they were so helpful. Not this time! What a shame that they will lose my business! They didn't want it anyway, obviously. And to think I was going to buy three certificates. I will take my business elsewhere!

We have stayed at the Ebbtide on four different occasions over the past 12 years or so. The first three were great. This last trip, not so great. It had been almost three years since we last stayed there, and it is declining.

The rooms look right out onto the ocean, so the views are great. The rooms are old and outdated. They have painted the outside of the hotel since the last time we stayed there three years ago - that is the only remodeling that I could see. Some paint on the wall in the bathroom was peeling. The carpet was frayed, and it is just kind of in depressing disrepair. The rooms are big, and clean.

There is a coffee pot in every room, but no coffee. When my husband went to get coffee in the morning, he had to go the office and ask for it. They said that is how they do it. Well I think they should have offered it to us when we checked in if they aren't going to keep it in the room.

The price is very reasonable for being right on the ocean. The staff is friendly. This is an ok hotel - just not for a special stay.
