Best Western Plus Ocean View Resort
Ranked #9 of 27 Hotels in Seaside

My sis and I checked in late the night we got there. The front desk clerk was friendly and timely. The room was quaint, but well kept. The hotel itself sits right on Seaside's promenade. Overall good stay, reasonably priced, and pet friendly. To have a pet is a $20/day extra charge, but at least they consider it. If you are going to have a dog, make sure and bring doggy bags cause there is not many places for the pet to go to the bathroom. One more thing, I was very impressed by the quality of the bedding. Very plush and comfortable.

We slept so good, should have wrote the mattress info, cause it was so comfortable! We didn't have ocean front view, our room was facing the parking lot, but we did get a small view out of our window. Very clean, highly reccomend this hotel.

Best Western Ocean View had accepted my PriceLine bid of $52, and by the time we made the long drive to the coast, we had decided we would need the upgrade. We DO spend time in our room: We eke out our travel dollars by eating and drinking in the room and enjoy reading, playing cards and watching movies when we have had enough sun, wind, rain and tourist traps. I will admit that I didn't even look at the (single queen bed, some with partial ocean view) room that was allocated to PriceLine.

That being said, desk clerk first tried to charge me $65 PER NIGHT for the upgrade to an ocean front room, but quickly backed it down to $50. I was distressed to have doubled my committment for the room, but it was definately worth it.

We had an end room with a very nice pillow top queen bed, and another equally nice pillow top Murphy bed. The room was terribly hot, and no matter what we did with the thermostat, it didn't make any difference, so we never got to use the gas fireplace. The kitchen had a two burner stove, micro, mini-fridge, sink and (of all things) a dishwasher. The dishes were substandard, however, and I expect they see a lot of pilferage and carelessness. Although the coffee service and drinking glasses were all disposable, the towels were nice enough and the bed linens were upscale, with lots of fluffy pillows.
There was also a nice easy chair with a hassock and reading light and a small dining table. It was a very comfortable and well appointed room with a very nice view of the sea and Tillamook Head.

With the constant beach and promenade traffic there was a bit of a fishbowl effect with the second floor room, but we figured the people outside were more interested in their business than in ours. The beach is wide enough at this point that the surf noise was very pleasantly muted. One downside to a pet friendly hotel though is that at any given time there is a dog barking somewhere in the building and I didn't see any signs requesting dogs not be left alone in the rooms. It being Seaside and Spring Break, the pool area was off limits to right thinking adults the entire time. It looked pretty grim anyway being located inside a steamy, chlorine reeking room.

Upon check-out, they tried to bill me $50 for the first night, but $75 for the second night upgrade. It took around 20 minutes to get it put right, although the desk staff was cheerful enough. I got the impression that this type of accident occurs regularly.

Still and all, it was a nice enough place to spend a few days.

Thank you for your comments. I especially appreciate the kind words about your room and the hotel's location. We are undergoing a renovation of the rooms and I am sure that you will be even more pleased on your return visit. Please accept my apology for any misunderstanding about your rate. You had booked a small, economy, non-view room and the clerk on duty was attempting to persuade you to upgrade to an ocean front (which you did). I will look into how this was handled and see where we might improve. Thanks again for staying with us.

After having problems at another motel we found this place and were able to get a room with a view of the beach, so we moved here instead of extending our stay at that motel.
Typical Best Western, nothing special, but we were happy having a view of the ocean, hot water for our showers, clean linens, and decent towels.
We would recommend this hotel to others, but don't expect anything above average and you will be happy.

When we got to the hotel, we found the location to be good and the hotel to be older but fairly nice. The stay started to go downhill once we were in our room for about an hour. When first lying down on the bed, and sinking down about four inches, we realized that this wasn't going to be a comfortable stay. The biggest complaint was the noise. There were convention guests staying at this hotel with their families. This would typically not be a big deal except this hotel had seemingly paper thin walls. We were unable to sleep for the first two or so hours that we tried and woke up off and on throughout the night. The noise was clearly not from one rude hotel guest as the noise came from the room above us, the room next to us and the hallway. While this was the biggest complaint during our stay, there were a number of small complaints that added to the frustration. We paid $126 for a room with an unobstructed ocean view. Since it is now fall, we knew there wouldn't be much daylight to enjoy the view, but it's Seaside so there would be enough light to see the ocean from the surrounding area. We were disappointed by the bright light on our deck that could not be turned off and completely blocked any view past the deck from our room. When asked at checkout how our stay was, the front desk clerk clearly didn't actually want an honest answer because I mentioned the light. Her response was "well, it is supposed to turn off at 10pm". That may have been true, but we had a long day and didn't want to wait until 10 to find that out. The room was also mostly clean, but there were a few hairs left in the bathroom. Finally, the hotel was remodeled in 2008, but the remodel was spotty. New countertops, probably some new furnishings, but clearly not a new bed or anything to improve the doors to the decks or sound problems the hotel has. Overall, I would stay here again for $60 a night, but not for $126.

We booked a room through priceline ( name your own price ). The room was small but the price was good. We asked for a upgrade and the very friendly staff offered us a ocean front room (3rd floor) with a fireplace and inroom jacuzzi. It was also three times the size. Total price we paid after the $30 upgrade was less than $95. The room was great. Jacuzzi overlooked the ocean. The open air balcony was great. Location could not be better. We truly found a bargain and loved our stay.
