“yuck! stay away.”
Reviewed September 29, 2009

We splurged on a beach front room, 2nd floor, "pet friendly". We paid about $279.00 for one night. The room felt dirty, a window was broken/open all the time, closet door was broken, kitchen was poorly stocked (mismatched plates, few utensils, no paper towels, etc.. and they were mostly dirty!!!), and the carpet felt sticky (I wanted to wear shoes in the room). The hotel generally is in poor condition. The rooms, although "remodeled", feel as if they cut corners and didn't fully update adequately (old wall paper/new counters). We were terribly disappointed and will never go there again!

Well i called to make my reservations here and i made it with a lovely girl by the name of Amber, she was so patient and understainding of what we needed to make our stay as fun and exciting as possible. When we got to the hotel Amber checked us in and i was so delighted to have met her, she was just as lovely in person. Amber gave us everything that we needed for our stay, she was just on top of it, anythings i asked she had an answer for. The ocean front room was just fantasic and it was really nice to have a kitchenette in there to cook for the kids. I love the idea of the murphy beds, because it really does save you alot of space in the room. I just wanted to make sure to right this review so that Amber at the front desk can get the credit that she deserves. Thank you amber, an we hope to see you again in the near future.

My sister had her wedding on the beach in front of the hotel and the reception was held in the hotel ballroom. The hotel's wedding coordinator was top shelf - helped us late the evening before the ceremony to add some extra decorations to the ballroom and was johnny on the spot when we had unexpected guests show (we needed another table set up DURING the reception). Food was catered by the hotel's restaurant and was fantastic!!! Everyone had a wonderful time. Several guests stayed at the hotel (including my husband and I) and had no complaints. Rooms are clean, beds are super soft, plus our room was not listed as "ocean front" but we still had a great view and we had a deck with nice chairs to relax.

So the place isn't horrible -- but it has seen (hopefully) better days. Just kind of slowly falling apart. Which is too bad, because the location is great. If you book an oceanfront room on the ground floor, realize that you will be on the Seaside Promenade and folks will be walking by all day long. Mattress was the worst in our lives. So soft it was like a water bed, we couldn't even share it -- wife had to sleep on the Murphy bed. No soap in the bathroom, closet doors broken, etc. Place accepts pets and we found a pet chew toy under our bed --yuck! So if you go to Seaside, look for someplace else. We had the option of staying on an extra night after the conference -- but at $200-plus a night, we drove home instead.

Where do I begin???? No place to park our truck & trailer. The somewhat helpful manager put us in the handicapped striped section and said she 'hoped' we wouldnt get towed. Enter the room and it is sweltering hot (granted its Seaside and there USUALLY isnt a need for air) this particular day was hot and our room was uncomfortable hot. They offered to bring us a fan, TWICE, and we never got one. WE were on the first floor so there was nooption of leaving the door open for fresh cool night air. We sweated the whole night and did not sleep. Speaking of sleeping, uncomfortable beds and terrible pillows. Moving on to the cleanliness, or lack of...The shower had mold and no seperation from the rest of the bathroom so the WHOLE floor got wet when shower was being used. There was someone else's food in the fridge upon arrival so we weren't able to use it. Not to mention the OUTRAGEOUS rate that we paid. WE paid 179.99 for CRAP! No view, sweltering HOT room, Mold, terrible bed and pillows, terrible service, and someone else's food. I guess they charged us extra for the leftover food. We make it to Seaside a couple times a year and always stay @ Shiloh...still wondering why we ever made a switch. Making one more switch back to the Shiloh Inn, where will stay every time from here on out!!!!

The rooms have been renovated nicely. The exterior and common areas are dingy and very 70's. They DO NOT have WiFi in the rooms as the BW website says.
Very few rooms have beach views and all are very tiny. The staff could best be described as indifferent.

My husband and I were planning a special 26th anniversary celebration. We've visited Seaside once a year for nearly six years, but always stayed at the neighboring Shilo, and loved it. The Best Western advertised an Oceanfront King Spa room, "oversized spa in a bay window overlooking the panoramic beach and unobstructed ocean view, gas fireplace, private balcony."

We arrived early at 1:00 pm, and asked if we might possibly be allowed to check in. If not, we would travel on down to Cannon Beach until the 4:00 pm check-in time. The woman at the desk said, certainly, she would let housekeeping know we were waiting and we should come back at 2. At 2:00, another desk clerk told us housekeeping was IN our room and we should come back at 3:00. At 3:00, the manager, Janice, snarled at us that check in time was 4, no exceptions. Off to a bad start? Definitely.

They gave us the key at 3:50, no aplogies, just more rudeness from Janice and no eye contact from the two who had told us we could "certainly" check in early. We unlocked the door and couldn't believe what we found. The spa was surrounded by old, dirty, mini-blinds. When we tried to raise them, they hung, torn and tattered and askew around the tub. We understood why the blinds were drawn, because the "panoramic" view from the tub was totally obscured by seagull droppings, salt spray and unidentifiable smears. Literally, we could not see out the windows.

The "private balcony" was one-chair width wide, and THAT "panoramic" view was of a concrete pillar and front half of a neighboring balcony. It was absolutely dark and depressing and run down.

I called the desk and was met with the same rudeness and couldn't care less attitude. They agreed to move us to a second floor Queen room, where every passerby on the promenade could look directly into our bedroom. Best of all, when we checked out, they tried to charge us MORE for the Queen than for the King Spa Room. When I protested, the clerk went to "talk" to Jan, the elusive manager, but Jan never came out of her desk. She told the clerk to "give" us the queen room for the same price as the King Spa.

I've documented all this with printouts and pictures. The website totally misrepresents the King Spa. I'm trying to get some satisfaction from corporate, but apparently no one cares about the Seaside location - especially not the staff who work there.

My recommendation - don't go NEAR this place if you expect any friendliness, customer service, civil treatment, or fair pricing.
