“Fantastic Value and Wonderful View”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

The location of Inn at the Prom could not be any sweeter for visiting Seaside, OR. It's literally right on the beach with a fantastic and completely unobstructed view of the beach. It's also within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Our room had a full kitchenette complete with a four-burner electric stovetop, oven, microwave, and all the basic cutlery and dishware. The room was very clean, has a balcony overlooking the promenade and the beach, tastefully decorated, offers free wi-fi and DVD's, a cozy fireplace, a flatscreen TV, and the bathroom had a very luxurious touch with a high-quality and huge jacuzzi tub. I don't think it's possible in this economy to get an unobstructed ocean front room of this quality for under $375 per night - our room was only around $220 per night and I felt we very much received exactly what we were looking for. It was a bit of a tight squeeze with the the four of us (2 adults and 2 kids) in one room, but I expected this. Keep in mind that this lodging is more of a bed-and-breakfast type, so you won't find a telephone in your room and of course, no room service/concierge, onsite restaurant, or pool. The only drawback to this location and to no fault of the hotel, was the fact that Seaside definitely attracts a somewhat different demographic than Cannon Beach, particularly at night. There were a lot of parties on the beach as well as on neighboring balconies from neighboring hotels, which the building was sandwiched in between. I don't fault the hotel for this...they're in Seaside after all and the view more than made up for some noisy beach-goers. Cannon Beach and Astoria are only 15 minutes away and their location along with affordable pricing and full kitchens offers families and couples alike an affordable weekend get-away. I highly recommend and would easily return any time of the year.

Room Tip: Pay the extra fee for an oceanfront room - it's a totally different experience waking up and fal...

We recently took a vacation to Oregon and decided to spend a little time in Seaside - one of the oldest beach communities in Oregon. Seaside has been around since around the turn of the Century (that's the 20th century, not the 21st). You will find pictures all over town depicting people enjoying the beach, the surf and the community well before any of us were born.

Seaside offers one of the most unique fixtures on the Oregon coast - a broad promenade almost 2 miles long right on the beach, separating the beach from the front row of houses and commercial buildings. And the beach at Seaside is HUGE - flat and expansive as far as the eye can see, ending in a water line of shallow water and benign waves.

As the name suggests, the Inn of the Prom sits right on the Promenade - almost in the direct center of the downtown district.

Consisting of 17 rooms, the Inn is well-appointed and maintained. Rooms 14-18 face the ocean and sit directly on the Promenade and are their most expensive and luxurious rooms. We enjoyed #16 for a night recently. Very comfortable king bed, very well designed and appointed room, kitchenette and jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Every detail was top-drawer. Gas fireplace.

We particularly enjoyed the balcony overlooking the Beach and the Promenade - sitting with a blanket draped over our shoulders for comfort watching the people stroll past and the families playing everywhere on the Beach as the evening crept upon us.

Our greatest surprise was that Oregon lets people build fires on the Beach at night. We delighted in the numerous fires twinkling on the Beach as the sun settled into the ocean.

The other rooms at the Inn do not have beach or ocean views, and we did not stay in them, but I would venture to guess that they, too, are probably very well appointed and maintained as ours.

Called Gilbert Inn and they were full - recommended this inn across the street. Room was clean with mini kitchen. Nice bathroom plus gas fireplace. Great location and friendly staff. We would stay there again.

We stayed at this place when we were at Oregon coast. The location was excellent, right by the beach. We had dinner and breakfast on the porch where we could see and hear the ocean.
The staff were very friensly. The room were clean. It had a compact kitchen. It's small but had everything you need. There was also a grill, it did not worked very well, but we still had BBQ for dinner.
We bought some wood from the motel and had camp fire on the beach, our kids had a lot of fun. We ended up stay there for two nights.

The room was just as described. It was extremely clean and very comfortable. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The location is absolutely perfect. And the view is fantastic. It was only 1 block to the downtown the downtown area and right on the promenade.

Room Tip: Definitely worth the extra money to get a room with an ocean view.

Rooms are newly decorated and very comfortable. Great location on the Promenade. Noise was a problem - patios are not private, and the conversations of other guests are clearly audible, unless the door is closed and TV on loud. Last night we heard all of a loud and obscenity-filled conversation among three women guests. Three hours of explicit description of their sexual preferences and practices; finally ending at midnight. A good place to stay; but with the expectation that a quiet evening listening to ocean surf will NOT happen. Bring earplugs.

From the minute we arrived,we knew we were in for a treat! Check in was a breeze and April was great and even helped us with some dining options. Our room was ocean front overlooking the promenade. We loved the fireplace at night and ahhhhhh...the jetted tub was so nice. We walked along the promenade and saw about 40 bonfires at night. It was nice to sit out on the balcony and people watch. Everyone seemed to be having such a great time. The hotel is not only on the beach, but a block away from the main street of fun shops and restaurants. You can get anywhere you need to within a few blocks! Loved the kitchen. We had everything we needed, and the complimentary mango passionfruit tea in front of the fireplace while we played a few games and watched a DVD loaned from the office topped off the evening. I have told everyone about this incredible inn....and we will definitely be back when we visit the Oregon coast!!! It was everything we hoped for....and MORE!!
