We hiked about three,to four miles into this trail between Seaside and Cannon Beach. There is serious climbing on switchbacks. No equipment needed but walking sticks are a real help on the downhills. It can be muddy. We were in our early 60's when we hiked this, and it was a good workout. We had hoped to get to Cannon Beach but after about 2.5 hours, we could not tell how far we had left to go. There could be a lot better signage, though the main trail is clear. The forest is beautiful, and there are occasional ocean views, though not as much as we had hoped. When we got to the camp ground (halfway?), we decided to go back to Seaside. We enjoyed it, even if we did not make our goal.
