“Rudest front desk experience ever!!!!Dont go there!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

We wanted to stay in Long Beach, WA and reserved a room in the Adrift hotel (130$/night), but had a horrible incident there. We checked in and found feces on the "fresh" bed sheets!

Anyways, we drove to Seaside,OR that day and found the Beachside Inn. We arrived and the lady at the front desk, which later turned out to be the property owner, let us check out the room. We walked in there and of course after the crazy experience earlier that day in the Adrift, we just lifted up the bed cover and sheet to see if the bed is at least clean. The room was clean, but it looked like a motel from the 70's. Not very welcoming and "romantic". anyways, me and my husband told the lady we would just walk to the beach talk about it and would be back within 10 min. She agreed and seemed fine with that.

10 min . later we came back and wanted to tell her, that we would gladly take the room for the night. She was upset and snapped at us saying: " I am not considering renting to you!". We were shocked! I asked her why, she said, " we come here and destroy the bed and then walk away"!!! I was trying to reason with her and tell her about our first experience and that I just checked out the cleanliness of the bed..., but she wasn't listening, cutting me off and basically kicking us out of the room!.

This was the rudest and most unprofessional thing I have ever experienced with hotel staff/owner....I don't know whether that was racist thing or not since we are a mixed couple!!! I couldn't tell, but it certainly was outrageous and put a very bad light on her and this place.

Anyways, besides this the hotel/cottage whatever it supposed to be, does not hold up to their description on the homepage. All I can say is: don't go there. You can find some place else where your business is appreciated and you get treated with some respect and dignity, and a place that is worth 120$!!!!!

Beachside Inn gladly allows guests to see accommodations before renting. Our willingness to rent to this couple is evident by allowing them to view the room, and their choice to return to rent. Leaving a room disheveled (bedding and pillows pulled back to the floor) after viewing, without clearly informing the desk as to their intentions, is unacceptable. We want all our guests to have a pleasant experience. We trust that other reviews show this to be true. Would any responsible business refuse service without a compelling reason? We are often complemented that the website accurately represents Beachside Inn.

I had the occasion to stay at the Beachside Motel in Seaside, OR the weekend of Aug. 18, 2012. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of our suite. It was a two-bedroom/kitchenette with a cozy fireplace, two big comfy queen size beds. The carpet was clean and cushy, and the beds were made up invitingly with lots of pillows, and a nice warm comforter. The room we had was decorated in an ocean theme of soft seafoam green with blue accents. It was so calming and relaxing. The furnishings were all in good condition, with a retro look. The kitchen is stocked with the dishes and pans you need to save a little money on eating out, has a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. Only thing missing was a toaster. It is a short walk of a couple of blocks to the Promenade and the beach, and only a couple of blocks to the main tourist shopping area on Broadway. Definitely a good little place to stay with all the comforts you need, close to the ocean, without the oceanfront price for the more budget minded.

My wife and I and two teenage daughters spent two nights here and it was perfect. My daughters LOVED it and can't wait to return. They called it a prime destination for future Oregon trips. Our room was exactly like the picture on the website. We had two queens including a fireplace and kitchenette. Bed was very comfortable for both my wife and I. The girls said the same about theirs. NO issues with noise as I read in other reviews. I was skeptical after reading those two reviews. Anyone that is disappointed at the Beachside Inn would be disappointed anywhere! this place is wonderful and so close to both the beach and all the downtown shops. We walked everywhere.

Seaside was the destination of our family road trip and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. When we arrived I was happy to see that it was exactly as it had been advertised. The room was beautifully furnished, clean, and had a calming feel to it.
We rented their two room suite which suited our family perfectly. The room two separate bedrooms, a full kitchen (refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave & equipped with plates, utensils, cookware, etc.), a small living room area and full (though small) bathroom.
The beds were so comfortable and our son slept so great having his own space.
Now, regarding the bathroom... I can honestly say I was concerned about this specifically as it had been commented on by other reviewers and my husband is bigger guy. But once we arrived my mind was put at ease. It is smaller but it is functional and well set up. They have done the absolute best they could with the space they had to work with.
The owner was helpful and friendly. We only saw her a couple of times but each time she asked how our stay was and if we needed anything.
The inn is located literally 1 1/2 blocks from the beach, a little further from the main shopping/touristy areas. We drove most places and were really lucky finding parking (probably due to it being during the week rather than weekend).
All in all, we loved it and we look forward to staying at the Beachside Inn on our next trip to Seaside!

Room Tip: If you are traveling with your family, ask about their two room suite. It was perfect for my husband...

I stayed here in late March, so I couldn't comment on noisiness - there were few and sometimes no other guests. I stayed for a week. When there were folks out on the street, I definitely heard that in my room.

I'll break this review down area by area, as there are very few negative points to hit.

I got the single queen with a kitchen. The rates for this unit when I stayed was $85 a night (it was off season), plus I got a $10/night discount because I stayed for 7 days. A great deal for so close to the ocean. It should be noted that due to circumstances, I spent a great deal of time in the room.

Overall - the room was very clean, tidy and just looked nice. It was however, tiny. Everything was shoved into 150-200sqft. Because it ended up being just me staying there (5'4", 190lbs), it suited me just fine.

Bed: It's difficult for me to find a mattress I am comfortable on, and what I find suitable can vary even from day to day. It's a fine line between soft and supportive enough. I found this bed to be right in the middle - it was not too hard nor so soft that it caused my back to sag. A good thing to find in a hotel bed.

The kitchen: GAS STOVE. I saw this in the photos on the website, and it was everything I dreamed of. It even had an oven. The fridge is not full size, but a bit bigger than the itty bitty 6pack fridges that are found in some hotel rooms. I was able to get in a quart of milk, several 1L soda bottles, fruit, cheese, really all kinds of things for a good meal. Bowls with leftovers, etc. Crammed to the gills yes, but able to fit everything I needed. A great money saver - I ate most of my meals in. The nearest store is Safeway on 101, which you will find expensive if you do not already come from a high cost of living area like Seattle. The kitchen is not stocked with food, but with just enough pots, dishes and silverware to get by. The stock isn't anything special, but I had everything I needed to cook, save the can opener which did not work. However, it probably would have been instantly replaced had I gone to the owners with it. I had fortunately packed my own. I can't comment on quality of knives - I brought my own.

Bathroom: And here we come to the achilles heel of Beachside Inn. It was also tiny. So tiny that with the bathroom door open, when I went to use the bathroom at night I got a doorknob in my back a couple times before I learned to avoid it. The shower stall worked fine for me, but would have been very difficult for my other half (6'5", 280) to wash himself in had he been able to join me. At 2x2', the shower stall may be as wide as some people's shoulders. The GOOD NEWS is this is a known issue and the owners are already fixing the shower stalls by opening them out. I saw a renovated one and it was fantastic. FAR more usable and also cheery with blue tiles and less dark. The toilet will probably still be so close to the door that your leg presses into it, but that's a minor livable issue and may not be that way in other units. They were finishing renovations on a number of rooms when I was there, so if you are big and tall, make sure to get one of the rooms with the revamped shower stalls and you'll enjoy the bathroom much more.

It's true there is no daily housekeeping. For me, this was a plus. However, the owners were around outside frequently and asked me if I needed anything. There is extra everything (but sheets) in the unit, and being one person, I had all the towels and whatnot that I needed without even using the extras.

No, there aren't phones in the room. Only a problem if you are one of the few folks in the country without a cellphone.

Management: Unfortunately, the office is usually not open, making it difficult to find someone all the time. However, when I stayed there, the owners were renovating and I could normally catch them if I needed something. They were very responsive and eager to please. When I mentioned the can opener to them, I was sure it would be replaced immediately (I told them I had my own, so no rush). I almost had the urge to make stuff up, they were so determined to make sure everything was 100% to my satisfaction. They were always happy to speak with me, even in just a casual friendship way. I know that if I had a real problem, they would do anything to solve it.

It's worth mentioning their cancellation policy: You have to cancel *two weeks* in advance for 100% refund, otherwise you get only 50% back. I don't like it, but I understand it. It's a mom and pop hotel and they would go broke if their policy were the same as giant hotel chains.

Area: It is indeed just two blocks to the beach and although there is a mild hill, it is not steep at all. No steps to go up or down. The walk to Broadway was not bad at all, though I would highly suggest rain gear. At one point I was craving dessert enough that I went to the nearest conglomerate hotel (The best western I believe, big yellow ocean front hotel) which had a restaurant (Sal's pub). It was awful. Artificial fanciness, the menu was nothing special, the boring desserts weren't made in house and the staff stared at me like I was an alien for asking what they had for dessert. I did not eat here, but I was very grateful for not staying in this hotel. I much preferred the hominess of Beachside Inn.

Oh, pets are allowed in some units, but not others. This means if you have allergies, you can request a no-pet room.

Summary: Be prepared for the unit to be small, but nice and well equipped with what you need. Management is friendly, eager to please and probably a bit more accommodating (when they can be) than a large hotel with fixed policies.

Having never been to Seaside we weren't sure where to stay so after reading some of the reviews here we chose the Beachside Inn. It is indeed a very nice place to stay. It is very clean and well maintained as others have said. I'm not too sure what a previous reviewer was referring to when he/she said the shower was too small. The shower in our unit was of normal size and the water pressure was great with good temperature control. Nobody was staying in the room next to ours so I can't comment on any noise issues. I like the location, very close to the beach and within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants. The only problem I had while there was the wireless internet connection. The first couple days I had no problem but the last day there I couldn't get online. If I ever go back to Seaside I will choose the Beachside Inn again.

We have stayed at The Beachside Inn a couple of times now and we love it! The first thing you notice is the decor. It looks like it is right out of a magazine. The owners certainly have style and attention to detail. The rooms are SUPER clean! I really appreciate that because most motels never feel clean. This place just feels good. We all slept well - the beds in both rooms were very comfortable. Also, it was nice to have the kitchenette and kitchen supplies so we could make meals and snacks for our young child. Great location - most everything withing short walking distance and only one block to the beach!
