We went to the Marco Polo based on a reference. Reviews online pretty much correct, great food, and way too many menus - as if that is a problem. Service was friendly, prompt and everyone (all 4 of us) enjoyed our meals- soup was superb (tomato), as well as the salad, salmon and steak dinners. The only "negative" was that as the evening got darker, they didn't ramp up the lighting, so it was actually too dark- not even candles. Prices reasonable (less than $15- 20 for main dinners). Of course we are from the MD-DC area, but our 2 Oregonian friends enjoyed it as well. Excellent Vegan and Gluten free selections as well.

We dined at Marco Polo on the recommendation of our hotel host on an overnight stop in Salem. We wanted really good vegetarian AND non-vegetarian food. We were very pleased with the dinners we ordered, grilled chicken with mushroom cream sauce and the special veggie delight with tofu and veggie chicken. They have three different menus with lots of variety. The salad was fresh and the soup hearty. We would happily visit Marco Polo again. The service was friendly and responsive, the dining room was comfortable, and the window views into the blossoming cherry trees were delightful.

I finally had the chance to visit this restaurant that I had been hearing rave reviews about. Wow, I have to say this is the best gluten free food, especially for the price, that I have ever had! I highly recommend it. The menu is extensive. We even had a visit from the chef/owner who was amazing. He explained all the ways his restaurant has improved over the past five years to keep their gluten free customers happy starting with where he sources his ingredients from and ending with the plates on which he serves his food. Gluten free items go on a round plate, regular items go on a square plates. I sampled the halibut with vegetables, the mongolian chicken and another chicken dish, and all were fantastic! What a nice man and what a wonderful restaurant. Really fresh ingredients as well. Check it out!

Look no further for a 5 page Vegetarian Menu with multiple Vegan offerings and not only that it's tasty to boot. Tanqueray and tonic really tasty. Do ask to sit in Emily's section if she is there. She is attentive, not intrusive and quite honestly one of the best wait staff I have had in a long time.
Dinner for 4, with 4 appetizers and drinks under $80 and food to go home with you.

Why does a previous review mentioned the hummus...? This is a CHINESE restaurant! The amazing Cheungs are from Hong Kong, hence the variety; European, Chinese and Vegetarian menus. Their deep involvement in careful choices; vegan and vegetarian (as well as fresh, local vegetables, seafoods and meats) is evident. They offer an aray of marvelous, freshly made specialties! For hummus, try the one of the many coffeeshops or lunch spots which make their own...and run here when you want GREAT Chinese food. Our large & diverse family has been going for years; they soon remembered our names & favorites. We bring visitors from many states and countries; all have loved it.
