My husband and I stayed two nights while visiting our Granddaughter's family weekend at Willamette University. Jean was welcoming, friendly and attentive to our every need. The breakfasts were delightful with fresh, locally grown produce and delicious flavors. There were amazing gluten free muffins to accomodate special dietary restrictions.

The bed was comfortable and the atmosphere was charming. We will be staying here again on our next visits.

As Treasurer of our Local AFSCME Union, we had the pleasure of going to the Century House of Salem for an all day retreat. It was a great experience!! Jean was a genuine and generous host! The food was excellent, she paid close attention to our needs. We certainly did not leave hungry!! It was a great place to meet in a casual setting. The ambience of Century House is warm and inviting. Great detail has been taken to assure the dignity of this 100 year old house yet up to date enough to provide excellent care of guests.

I live and work in Salem so never had the pleasure of staying overnight at this B&B. I have however had breakfast there many times, attended an in house concert where delicious light snacks were served. My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day at our own intimate table. The owner, Jean did all the cooking and serving of each couple as if they were her only guests in her own home. The owner's food is homemade, with locally sourced always fresh ingredients. You never want for more, as there is always an abundance.
As a part of my work life I've had the pleasure of holding 2 different retreat meetings at the B&B. Very comfortable meeting space for our group and fabulous foods throughout the day. Our needs are met before we can voice them. There is a gift boutique in the Lobby where handmade items are sold. If your the type of person who likes to help in the kitchen or you just want to talk about the history of the home or Salem in general then you've come to the right place. Ask for a tour, check out the website this B&B has with lots of pictures and contact information

Room Tip: This place is very bicycle friendly in that you have secure bike parking, a place to change your sho...

My husband and I stayed over the weekend at the Jean Brougher's Century House B&B. We made a short notice reservation and were treated like plans for our arrival were months in the making. The B&B is delightfully appointed. The common room boasts beautiful light and an absolutely gorgeous baby grand piano. Everything is fresh, clean and imparts a lovely sense of calm. Each of the bedrooms has their own appeal and feeling. The large country kitchen has the loving energy of someone who likes to cook and boy does Jean cook. Breakfasts are not to be believed and are served in courses, the coffee is always on and ingredients are the finest from local sources to make all together homemade meals from scratch ..... smoothies, breads, pastries, brownies, pancakes, egg dishes, glorious meats etc ... etc .... We chose an "Oktober Fest" breakfast and Jean sourced the nitrate free German sausage from a local butcher and paired it with "nun" mustard (made by a nearby religious order from Mt. Angel). We laughed at how funny that name is and cried for how delicious the garlicky, grainy mustard was with the sausage. Lemme tell ya Jean is the angel. In fact, our son who is a student in Salem joined us for breakfast Saturday morning and he doesn't get too far without his canine pal, "Kit." With our son's permission, Jean promptly popped into the kitchen and emerged with one of her "on hand" sausage patties she makes from local pork and organic herbs. "I have these in the freezer, I bet Kit will like it," she said. This B&B is not to be missed and for those who need to stay in Salem wether it's for a day or a week Jean Brougher's Century House is everything you'll need, and more. Way more.

My husband and I recently stayed at this property for 1 night on our way to California. Owner Jean was welcoming and attentive to our needs. She accomodated the dietary restrictions without making me feel like it was a bother. I would highly recommend this property. The train is nearby so it can be heard on occasion throughout the evening and early morning.

You would absolutely not get this service for this price in a hotel. At somewhere over a hundred, my friend and I stayed in the North Suite, which additionally included a private kitchen (pots, silverware, etc.) and sitting room (little table, couch, rocking chair, wood-stove), along with the bedroom. During our visit, we NEVER WANTED FOR ANYTHING. Wondering about live music around Salem, we asked Jean (the owner/lovely warm host). She not only showed us places on the maps she gave us earlier, but also looked up live listings, then called, then gave us a ride there. This was so much more than we asked - the whole experience was. Jean and the work she puts into her bed and breakfast is inspiring. You'll want to move in. And the food! Delicious breakfast! You might just call it 'home' like we did.

Room Tip: We liked the North Suite, because it came with a full kitchen and sitting room for the same price as...

My husband and I stayed at Century House for 3 nights when attending the BMW National Motorcycle Rally in Salem. The room was very comfortable with lots of space for our gear. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. One evening we were treated to fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and milk! Jean was great providing us with off street parking and even had buckets, rags and water for us to clean up our bikes.
