In search of a new "date night" place my husband and I finally tried Roberts Crossing. We asked to sit on the patio and were happily accommodated. Our server Ryan was prompt to greet us, was very friendly and familiar with the menu and specials. Our entire meal service was wonderful with just the right amount of check-ins from the staff.
Although not hungry enough for appetizers, the pulled pork fries are going to have to be a must to try on our next visit. Wonderfully crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle baguette bread is served warm with a great soft butter while we waited on our meals.
Meals are entrée only, so a soup or salad accompaniment is an extra ($3-$4). Prices range from $16 for pasta dishes up to $30 or so for other protein dishes. My husband chose the spicy Cajun fettucine and was offered mild, medium or spicy. He chose spicy. It was presented in a tomato base and he said the heat for him was okay but he would ask for extra spicy next time. I chose the seafood fettucine in an alfredo sauce. It was very rich and creamy, lots of parmesan and a few shrimp, scallops and wonderful fresh fish. The sauce was a little on the soupy side but not a complete deal breaker.
The restaurant is nestled in a beautiful setting, but sitting outside there is traffic noise as it sits very close to the street. Inside is very quaint and looks like a good place for a romantic evening. There is also one large table to accommodate a bigger party. We are looking forward to going back and just relaxing in the bar (we didn't check it out but has a separate entrance in the back if you don't want to go through the main entrance) and enjoying a cocktail and some appetizers. Atleast it is something different from the norm in Salem.
