“Amazing food and presentation!”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

Amazing food! Exceptional taste and presentation. Every time we've been there! The restaurant never seems to be overly busy - I think it's Salem's best kept secret. Chef Yuri and server Casey are both very attentive to any dietary needs and very knowledgeable and personable. The menu is very innovative and there is always an interesting special. Top notch cuisine and service!

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

The on-site restaurant at Red Lion Hotel, Willamette Valley Grill, is a gem. We were not expecting what we experienced. First, the waiter, Casey was great and helped us chose from the specialties, had good advice. The combination of Casey and the exceptional food made it a delightful experience. Unfortunately, we did not get to meet the chef, we were shocked at the quality of menu, presentation, and preparation. We decided to get two appetizers and glad we did, both were fit for even the most discerning gourmand. Casey informed us some of the ingredients were locally sourced.

This chef knows what he is doing paring unique ingredients that seem unlikely but pleasantly surprise: Rouge Valley Creamery bleu cheese with dried cherries and hazelnuts or a delectable secret sauce in a blended mushroom dish you couldn't stop dipping your perfectly grilled bread into. Red Lion is fortunate to have this chef on-site.

“Excellent food, great value!”
Reviewed October 21, 2013 via mobile

I highly recommend the Willamette Valley Grill. We recently enjoyed dinner for four. Everyone raved about their dinners. Several had their pork chop and it was excellent. Another had their hamburger which has won awards. Everyone was happy with their choice.

“Hotel Resteraunt in need of a bit of spice”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

The service was professional however our server lacked knowledge of certain key elements of the menu, specifically the wine list. The presentation was lovely however main courses lacked flair. I had the haddock which was tasty however the sauce came across a bit heavy and commercial. My dining mates who had the salmon were unhappy with portion to cost ratio and felt the meal was bland. I did have the Goat Cheese Fritter salad which was fun and tasty. Overall, a bit pricy for the lack of inventiveness with some very nice ingredients.

“Great food at an Unexpected Location”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

I am new to the Salem area and a friend told me that one of the restaurants I should try was the Willamette Valley Grill. We came in around 7pm and the bar looked busy so we decided to go into the dining room. We sat down and ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer (fantastic btw). I had a Pork Chop and my friend had the Halibut. Both were moist and flavorful. We finished the meal with their Chocolate Torte. We will back.
