“One night stay”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

Since we were only going to stay one night so booked this motel. We had previously stayed at a rodeway inn and were satisfied. we knew the motel would be just a place to spend one night. Usually they are clean and the bed is comfortable enough to sleep for one night. This motel, although, not as good as the one we stayed in previously was below minimum standards. The room had an odor of a dog previously being there. Although the clerk offered to change our room when I mentioned it, we had already were settled in and decided to stay. The breakfast was cereal, toast and a honey bun (which you buy at a grocery store). We took the coffee and ate elsewhere. I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel the price is too high for what you get.

Walking in we were _not_ greeted by the two young men behind the counter, who were almost avoiding any contact with us and really made us feel we should have chosen some other place to stay. When we got to our room we noticed the bathroom was not properly cleaned (there was small piles of poop on the floor and the toilet was dirty inside). We were given a new room immediatelly next door wich seemed better, but it was still dirty. The toilet was still bit dirty inside. The floors were obviously dirty close to the walls. Also the bedsheets had holes in them and there was some stain on the right corner. And one of the three pillows was obviously dirty with same traces of make-up. We decided to throw the pillow off from the bed and the stain was on the side AND the most important part was there were NO bedbugs or other critters so we settled to our fate. The breakfast was normal motel breakfast. The sad thing is, when we ran into the cleaning maid when we were leaving, she seemed very nice a person. I hope some other cleaning lady was responsible for the mess.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else. Remember to check everything is clean before settling in.

The in itself okay building and rooms are let down by lazy cleaning and indifferent staff. Nobody is outright rude, but would it kill them to smile and pay attention to you? Our first room's bathroom had not been cleaned at all. The room we changed to was okay, but even then the bathroom cleanliness was not up to standards we've seen in other motels on this trip. The bed had stains and very worn sheets. Breakfast was the worst I've had - I'm used to just toast and butter, but all the drinks were watered down (coffee, juices) to a real disappointment.

On the plus side I did get a good night's sleep and it's quiet. It's the dirt and overall subdued mood bringing everything down.

Fairly small rooms with shower only in bathroom. Slightly worn. Quiet air conditioner. No road noise. Thin walls but necessities covered. Hall smelled like smoke but room smelled clean. Breakfast was basic. For $50 it was a good value and good for the one night of our stay.

It is hard to beat the value for what you get here. Stayed here June 2012 during a vacation in Oregon. Hotel was very clean, nice rooms. Looks like it was formerly a Sleep Inn (by the room design & sliding bathroom door) and I'm pretty sure about this because one of their parking signs out front referred to guests of Sleep Inn. They have an indoor pool which my daughter loved. For the price, it can't be beat. I would definitely stay here again if we are ever in Salem, OR again.

The room I was in (229) was not vacuumed before my stay, because I found coffee stirrers on the carpet. This made me wonder if my bedding was clean, or of the shower, bathroom or sink had been sanitized! And their Continental Breakfast was something my grandchildren would prepare - cold cereal, toast and juice! So, we had to go get a nourishing and fulfilling breakfast at a restaurant. It would be worth paying the extra $30/night at a better motel and save the cost on breakfast, then to stay at this place!

Room Tip: Don't stay here if you can help it; the staff are rude and uncooperative.

Chose this hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews. Can't disagree with most of the reviews. For me, room and bathroom cleanliness are on the top of my list, thus the overall rating of "4". On the plus side, the rate was probably the best along Interstate 5 in Oregon, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom area and sink areas were clean, and the carpet was clean. The shower stall door needed to have the lime buildup removed and the mold on the door cleaned. The outside of the hotel needs to be cleaned and/or painted. The "welcome mat" at the front door was in shreds and should be replaced. Still the price was right and the place comfortable. My concern would be that unless hotel management takes care of these maintenance issues now, the property will decline. All that being said, I would stay there again.
