“Fantastic State Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2012

Really enjoyed hiking here and watching the rock climbers. We hiked to the top and then down the other side. It was well worth the climb as the view was magnificent. Bring some shoes with good grip as the grade is somewhat steep. My old boots had minimal tread and I left my trekking poles in the car so I felt not so safe coming down. But, I made it down and I would definitely go again.

“World Class Rock Climbing but also simple walks for mere mortals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2012

Smith Rock is a spot you can drive to and from the top parking lot, enjoy a flat and simple walk with your not-so-active friends. Or, you can walk down to the Crocked River and start either a clockwise rather flat walk that is lovely or a counter clockwise ascent up the rocks. Something for all levels here.

“Rock climbers paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2012

Climbers all know this spot but for the casual tourist it's worth the detour. Nice hiking trails and it's like it's own mini world. From the flat high desert suddenly you're in this picturesque river canyon.

“Awesome experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2012

You don't need to be a climber to appreciate this park, although climbers come from all over the US to experience the mystical here. A riverside trail runs along the Crooked River, or, if you are more ambitious, climb to the top for 360 degree views. Take your camera, although you'll have difficulty capturing the vastness of this attraction. Dogs are OK on leash, and our dogs had a great time. By the way, Smith Rock isn't a rock :-)
