It's amazing what someone can accomplish with a bunch of rocks. Well worth a visit, especially if you're tired of the mundane. I'm excited that they're rededicating their efforts to bringing the place back to its original glory.

I visited this area about sixty years ago, when it was still in progress. The site is a little on the old side, but the rock are still a interesting as ever. Great place to take the family, especially younger and the aged. Anyone with an interest in rocks and geology will appreciate this site.

Interesting short outing. The peacocks were quite amusing. It was evident the work that went into the rock structures. Fun for a short outing.

The park has fallen into disrepair and victimized by vandals. Needs to be restored to it's glory of the sixties.

Look, Disneyland it aint, but where else can you be screamed at by Peacocks your whole visit? For years I've seen "visit Petersen's Rock Garden" signs when visiting Central Oregon. Finally, I followed the signs for ? 8 miles ? off the path and found it. There is a gravel parking lot and a display or two near where you park. Then the fun begins! Take cash, or even a check and pay what you think you should and more, at the honor box. Then roam the grounds and visit the gift shop to see something straight out of the 50's or 60's. The Petersens truly put a huge amount of labor into building a rock Statue of Liberty, and a Rock White House...? oops, can't remember. Anyway, loads of interesting exhibits and those dark peacocks! We counted 13 that day, and a few hens, squawking and freaking us out. But it was still cool.

The gift shop is mostly Oregon rocks at reasonable prices, And really, there are some beautiful things there for a dollar or two. It's worth the trip.
