Union Creek Resort

We stayed in the lodge with the bathrooms down the hall. All the guests were super respectful that they were sharing a bathroom!. My favorite part was building a fire by the Union Creek river and kicking back with some wine. Then we shared the campfire with some kids who wanted to make some-mores...It was a magical evening.

Room Tip: Glad we got the room with 2 double beds for 2 people. Much roomier!

we stayed 2 nights our cabin was small but worked for 2 people. We had cabin 16 it was away from other cabins. Was worth the price paid. Only thing that would of made it better was that we could have a fire at night and if there were chairs outside table wasn't good to sit and read at. The office staff was funny, helpful and very nice. If you stay here make sure to have the pie at Beckies and ice cream next door both were great.

The Union Creek Resort could be fantastic with just a little effort on the part of the owners/managers. The setting is wonderful, but the place feels like the owners/managers think "hum, how little can we do and still get money from people?" The carpet in our cabin was disgusting and ruined the feel of the cabin. The cabins are so small, I can't imagine it would cost much to replace the brown and tan shag carpet from the 70's! The bed was fairly comfortable--after we killed a couple of spiders that tried to sleep with us. The bathroom was so small anyone over 5ft. 8in. would not be able to sit on the toilet without jamming his/her knees into the framing for the shower stall. There were no places to sit outside for the individual cabins (a couple of plastic chairs would have been appreciated). The WiFi NEVER worked, and the staff was not terribly friendly. All of this is such a shame because we loved the setting. We will not stay again unless changes are made. As is, the cabins are overpriced.

We were looking forward to staying here - the setting is beautiful, forested, with a rushing stream running through the property. I had reserved Cabin No. 22 for our family of 6 on the recommendation of the person who answered the phone when I called.

The space was ideal - 2 bedrooms, a living room and full kitchen. However, as another reviewer noted, I don't think the kitchen floor had seen a mop for a long time. There were layers of dirt in the space between the appliances in the kitchen, and the broken coffee table in the living room was thick with dust, the screen in the door out to the picnic table had pulled away from the frame. The futon was a lumpy mess. The sheets were clean, but the blankets and bedspread were another story. We walked around the property and noted that some of the cabins had been refurbished; I hope this one is on the list. This is a beautiful area close to Crater Lake; there are very few places nearby to stay and it would be nice to be able to recommend it.

We had a very good dinner at Beckie's; they were very busy and the service was slow, but we didn't have anything else to do so we sat out under the trees waiting for our table. Especially good were the hamburgers and fried onion rings.

Room Tip: Avoid Cabin #22; be sure to ask for one that has been refurbished.

Cabin #22..while somewhat updated was a bit dirty for me. The kitchen floor has not seen a mop in a long time. Caked on greasy dirt around the stove. Oven needed cleaning. Fridge was spotless and the coffee pot was new. Very old pots and pans, but usable. The Futon in the living room (the only couch) was broke. Could not set on it, let alone pull it out to sleep on. One grandson had to sleep on the floor. The beds were clean and comfortable. .A bundle of firewood was provided and we did have a nice campfire. Check in at 3 and check out by 11 (less than 24 hrs), for $200 a night it is more than I would pay again. At check out I asked to speak with a Manger regarding the Futon and was told I could talk to the guy at the register. Very young, told him the situation and he just stood there with nothing to say except ok. No apology or offer of some credit to the bill. Would be nice to have internet and cell service there. Disappointed by the cabin, but the scenery is beautiful. We hiked the Gorge and Natural Bridge area. We ate at Beckie's Cafe, the food was very good. They had stopped serving breakfast at 11 so we had lunch. Unfortunately of the dozen or so pies listed "to choose from" they only had about 5.

Our room was a surprise. It had a micro, refridg, and coffee pot in it- decorated woodsy and very comfortable and clean. We had a sink in the room. Restroom ( men's and women's), were down the hall. (also clean ). Good barbq stand out front and Becky's cafe across the street ( huckleberry pie). Also give a military discount

Our cabin, #19 may be the worst of the lot. The bathroom floor tile was caved-in and crushed. It looked like someone cleaned fish in the bathroom sink with a bowie knife- it was all gouged up. The shower enclosure was coming off the wall, and the black mold all around the tub had been caulked over with clear silicone. Any other repairs or maintenance that were evident were done with duct tape. The roof had three different tarps on top to keep out the rain. There was at least 1/2 inch of dried pine needles on the roof and around the base of the cabin. Any errant cigarette butt or lightining and the cabin would have be up in flames instantly. We left a day early and didn't even bother arguing for our money back- thats how demoralizing the stay was for my entire family. We didn't even try the restaurant or ice cream shop because I didn't want to give the place any more business than necessary.
