“Charming and quaint historic property in beautiful setting”

Prospect is a stop between Medford and Crater Lake. The hotel is the primary reason to stop there. It's a favorite place for people who want to be near Crater Lake but can't get into (or don't want to stay in) the lodge, and don't want a typical motel experience. The historic portion of the inn has smallish but comfortable rooms. The service is great and everyone on the staff is very friendly. The owners come to your table to make sure that everything is satisfactory. The front desk person in the evening is a gem -- totally enthusiastic; you almost felt like you were the first person she had ever welcomed to the hotel, when in fact she must have the same conversation hundreds of times each week. The food in the restaurant is very good and has gourmet touches. I don't know about the motel portion and have been lucky to always get in one of the historic rooms. And I will be back.

We picked this place because the park itself was completely booked up - apparently you need to book a year in advance. This was one of the nearest places to the park, although is a good 35 minutes drive away from the lake itself. The Union Creek resort is actually nearer, although looks much busier, and don't know what it is like.

The hotel staff were very friendly, and the hotel was clean and very Victorian looking. We stayed in the Grieve room which was actually very, very small. We had some friends staying in one of the suites upstairs and it was much better. The Grieve room also had a very small, uncomfortable bed, and this added to the plumbing system meant that we got very little sleep.

We ate at the hotel on the first night, as there is only really a pizza place in town to eat other than there. The food was really good, a reasonable selection, and the service was good. The breakfast was also included in the price and was yummy - we had granola and fresh fruit every day.

Overall, I would say a good hotel, I wouldn't stay in the Grieve room though.

Fred and Karen Wickman offer guests a fine dining and lodging experience in a beautiful small-town setting. They are great hosts, and we loved the informal nature of the Prospect Hotel. The surrounding Rogue River Valley affords lodgers the very finest in
outdoor adventures and a restful rural experience. We've gone there many years now
and never been disappointed.

We stayed in the "motel" section and found it to be clean and a good value. Our room was comfortable and had a fridge. The historic hotel looked very nice and we enjoyed sitting on their large covered patio. It's nestled in a beautiful setting. we stayed on our way to Crater Lake and it's a much better option than the Lodge at Crater Lake. The restaraunt was okay.

Basically the only inn in town that's a great stopping point between Crater Lake and Ashland. It's been there for decades and has the fussy albeit charming feel of that type of inn. Bathrooms are very clean but a bit tired. Restaurant served very good dinner, considering the rural location. Prime rib is a specialty. Breakfast, which was included, was OK but nothing to write home about. Very personable staff.

We stayed in a motel unit rather than the hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable with adequate kitchenette.
Had an accident when the coffeepot handle failed, the staff were friendly and helpful when told.
Local walks to waterfalls are lovely and again the staff are very willing to provide details, maps, etc.
General store just up the road.
About 40 minutes drive from Crater Lake which is a must see.

This is a very old building, beautifully restored, however that meant the rooms were not as spacious as a standard hotel, I think you would need their motel part for that. The rooms were all furnished in the old style with interesting facts about the characters the rooms were named for, mostly local residents. We stayed in the pearson room which was very comfortable and like the other rooms had an ensuite shower room. There was a guest lounge with tv and coffee available all the time. I had to ask for a hairdryer, as couldn't find one in the room. The staff were very friendly and gave us some great advice for our trips out, including visiting the local water falls.
Free wifi was available which we found very handy. Breakfast was good and served in their restaurant. We ate there in the evening too, as there were not too many choices in prospect, and it was very good.
We chose this hotel as we were visiting crater lake which was about 30-40 mins drive away and found it to be a good choice
