Beautiful is the best word to describe the vivid natural colors that appear here. The only more dramatic colors are the tails deposited by miners that resemble quilt blocks. The latter is man-made, not natural.

We had a nice day and enjoyed the experience. Well worth the trip. Visited along with other fossil bed sites.

I haven’t been here in years. They are still just as pretty and they have updated them with trails and visitor centers and nice parking. Many tourists on a pretty day but lots of room for all. Be sure to pack some snacks and water and watch your gas tank. A real interesting visit for young and old.

The Painted Hills are alive with such amazing colors. They are best viewed in the late afternoon/evening light. All hikes around were short and easy to do.

Painted Hills were nice for that area, but if you are ever driving Hwy40 across Arizona the "Painted Desert" is a mush see. The road was a washboard & if your like my husband he was not happy to drive it, not good for the car.
