“Back To The Hilton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Just returned from another stay at the downtown Hilton...a great staging area for Fourth of July/Riverfront Blues Festival activity. My original review still stands: It's a great place to camp out, especially if you snag a corner room with all those windows. The halls and guest rooms have been refurbished since last summer, so the property is looking fresh, fashionable and super clean. The location is wonderful: perfect for anyone who loves downtown shopping or has concert tickets for the Schnitzer, or who wants to explore the Oregon History Museum and the wonderful Portland Art Museum. They are steps away. I suggest hitting Elephant's Deli just a couple blocks north for an affordable and delicious breakfast. Park your car across the street in an independently owned structure to be economical. (For two nights it meant a total savings of $30.00 for us!)

Room Tip: Corner Room. Corner Room. Corner Room.

This hilton is a little better than average. It is not the nicest hotel in town, but certainly competitive at its regular or discounted rates. There is not much of a bar to speak of and the food is average but who would eat in a hotel restaurant in Portland anyway. Valet service while expensive at $36 was quick and sharpe.

Room Tip: The Heathman bar across the street is much better.

If you're looking to be in the middle of Portland without having to worry about getting around with a cab for every place you want to visit then stay here!

There's a warm pool - no more than 4 feet max - a gym, huge lobby and terrific rooms!

Room Tip: Face the street, not the inside of the hotel

For a 4 star hotel, they seem to have spent many hours separating the room charge from anything else you may consider part of the "inclusive" service.
The room was average at best, a view of nothing at all out the window, and one of the smallest bathrooms I have ever seen.
For 200+ a night you would think they could at least put a mini-fridge in the room, or AT LEAST have ice available.
Not a chance, plus, there were two bottles of cheap conditioned water on a tray, for a $2 each price tag.
The ice machine was broken. On it a sign to go to the next floor.
Then that floor was scratched out, and another floor listed, as apparently the other floors ice machine was out too!
The wireless cost $10, EACH DEVICE, per night!!!.
We were on a motorcycle tour.
The valet was much less than helpful.
They did not bother to take our bags. We had to park in another building, carry all our gear down the elevator, across the street, then to our room.
I realize non-riders are basically ignorant of all things bike, but these days we even have to charge our helmets over night to use the communications systems.
That makes 3 soft bags and a helmet, along with a back pack.
Down 7 floors, across 2 streets, and up again.
And no one even offered to help.
The breakfast was limited, and at $20 per person, I've seen free buffets with better.
Parking was $27 per night, per motorcycle, and no provisions to even store and charge your helmet.
The night earlier we stayed at a 2.5 start, the best available in the town we stopped at, and it was better service, free wifi, and less than 1/2 the cost.
They fleeced me for over $600 for my stay, we did 2 nights, and I did not have the time to change hotels on the 1st day.
It is the last money Hilton will EVER see from me.
Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else.

Booked a two night stay through a discount site and got a great deal for the room. Very convenient with everything downtown within a 15 minute walk in every direction. The room was very clean and modern. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Pool and hot tub/sauna were nice with very clean facilities. Would stay here again.

I have stayed at this Hilton hotel a couple of times and this was the first time I was at the executive towers. The breakfast that comes with the room is extremely helpful to start the day. Staff are really polite and helpful. Rooms need some updating and need a fan in the bathroom.

Very friendly staff from valet to front desk and also including the bar. You can't beat the location of this hotel. It's extremely central and close to everything one would need.....Including noise from sirens and music but the hotel can't help that. For the price though the size of the rooms are tiny and tight.

The gym was outstanding with trainers available and only a few blocks from the waterfront for a great run if need be.

Then of course you pay top dollar for valet and wi-fi. The nickel and dime fees just start to get on my nerves. Why can't hotels just include it and why offer it for free on the main floor.

Would stay again if the rate was cheaper.
