We enjoyed our stay at the Mark Spencer! The room was nothing special, but it did have a mini kitchen and that suited us perfectly because we were traveling with a young child. The rate included a continental breakfast and afternoon coffee with some treats. We liked the location and proximity to public transportation perfect and the staff was very nice.

I've stayed at the Mark Spencer more than other hotels when visiting Portland. The price to stay was good for the experience until now. Although they have added a underground parking addition, the money spent to stay, does not match the quality of the hotel. The last few times I've stayed, the rooftop deck was not opened (the best feature of the hotel). It's a great location, breakfast bar, but, there are better rooms for the money.

The location of this hotel was perfect. We parked our cars and didn't move them for two days. The light rail is just a block or two away and most of the rides we took were in the free zone. The hotel is beautiful. I like the fact it is pet-friendly. The employees were all very hospitable. The downside is the room. We had a junior suite. One slept on the bed in the bedroom, the other on the sofa bed in the main room. The second night we switched. The sofa bed was horrible for both of us.The bed in the bedroom was just fine. Also, there was no coffee in the room, There was a coffee maker in the cupboard but nothing to make coffee with. Even the cheapest hotels put the little coffee, cream and sugar packets in your room. Finally, we thought the bedroom should also have a TV. Most suites do. All in all a decent place, clean, and most of all, convenient. I got a special from their website, giving 20% off of what other travel websites were offering. Now, I notice they even have a name your own price on the hotel website. I like that idea.

I'm so glad to have chosen this hotel from the list of 5 provided by the Sock Summit website. The staff were all very friendly & accommodating, the room was spotless, comfortable & well appointed, and the complimentary personal products were wonderful! In addition, the location was perfect. Four blocks from the train, 1 block from KnitPurl and the excellent restaurants of every sort so nearby. This is my new favorite hotel. I hope the rooftop garden renovation is complete next time I come to visit Portland. Thank you!

The staff is very friendly. Good place for pets. New energy efficient windows with central heat and air. New breakfast room. We have stayed here four or five times and we are always satisfied.

Although I was a little concerned about the location, it was convenient to sightseeing, near the Pearl District & within the downtown area. So, bus & Max transport within that area is free. You just hop on & off.

We had 2 rooms on an upper floor that were clean, quiet & otherwise comfortable. There are renovations going on (which may be why the prices are so reasonable), but that didn't interfere with our stay at all. Breakfast is free as is the 1st 15 minutes of web time. Wireless connections are available.

I was a little hesitant after reading some iffy reviews, and this is not the hotel for someone wanting all the frills of a four or five- star hotel, but it's great for someone staying in Portland for a few days. On first appearance, the lobby is a little worn, and the rooms are pretty 70's, but the staff was very accomodating and friendly. The rooms were clean, comfortable bed. At first we were afraid our room would be noisy, but we never had a bit of trouble even though our room was on the first floor facing the street and was right next to the room used to serve breakfast. Free internet is slow, can pay for high-speed. The continental breakfast could use a little boost, never got a chance to try the afternoon tea and cookies. All in all a nice a good experience.
