This was our first stay at this hotel and now will not stay anywhere else while in Portland. Everything from the location, beautiful room, friendly staff, gym, bikes and we especially loved the happy hour where we were able to sample some lovely local wines. Being a yoga fanatic I especially appreciated the yoga mat in the room along with free access to yoga on demand videos a really nice touch!! We cannot say enough about this hotel and are looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: River view room was fantastic!

You can’t go wrong with Kimpton Hotels if you are a yoga fan. We take our yoga serious! Each guestroom in every one of our hotels comes equipped with a yoga mat. Heck we will even roll a mat out for you and provide fresh fruit and water upon request. How is that for service!

Thanks for the review,

Ryan

We were very excited to stay at this Kimpton hotel for part of our vacation. We were there from 08/28-08/30. The beds are fabulous and the room was very clean. We had a courtyard view that was just as beautiful as a river view...maybe :). We missed happy hour because of our children but, the complimentary coffee in the morning is top notch.

We did choose this hotel because of our kids. They have a kids program that states there would /could be goldfish in the rooms and a possibly of a Kimpton bear for each child. You can buy the kimpton bears on the hotels website store but, they are not available at this particular Kimpton. My mistake but, the goldfish didn’t appear either. Although, our kids did receive a pirate goody bag. My only suggestion would be for the hotel to offer that as an option to pay for with your room reservation. A toy bear is more tangible than cardboard games. I mentioned this in a survey completed for the hotel and the manager gave me a quick courteous reply.

The one downside to our visit was the room service from the attached Three Degree’s Restaurant. The service was fantastic but the food was horrible…even the kids menu. There isn’t a wide range of options to choose from and all are a little pricey for not being delicious. Luckily, there are plenty of other food options in Portland!

Everyone we came in contact with was nice and accommodating. However, our valet person (I wish I could remember his name…Tracy?) set the tone for the beginning of our vacation. He was friendly, personable, and had enough personality for the entire hotel! We will be back some day!

Thank you for the review and the feedback about our amenities offered catered towards children. I am sorry for the confusion about the bear. Please drop me a note the next time you stay and we will have a bear awaiting your arrival! I’m also sorry to hear about your In Room Dining experience we will address this asap. I'm passing on your comments to Tracy he is one amazing employee. You know he has been working at the RiverPlace for over 26 years! Hope to see you soon.

I had never heard of Kimpton Hotels. Don’t have them in Atlanta. Picked this for the setting. Glad I did. Loved the friendly, easy going, laid back, vibe and fabulous River Front view. Pricey, but this was a special treat - so we splurged. The hotel had been renovated, so it is sparkling. Happy hour wine was, cheap wine and great view. Still enjoyed. Close to town - we walked right in on a one and a half day lay over to Hawaii. Rooms: fresh, funky, with great bedding. I’m a new Kimpton fan.

Room Tip: High up, River side. Only way to go.

We just stayed at the RiverPlace for the first time. It is located right on the river and the room was exceptional. You can run or walk in the morning along the river . The Hotel always offers bikes and the city is Bike friendly. the Bed was very comfortable and the service from the employees was over the top

Stayed there from 08/24-08/27. Kimpton River Place has great views, is conveniently located to some nice cafes and wine bars, and overall is a very nice hotel but it is starting to look a little tired. Nice rooms but housekeeping is either in too much of a hurry or they are overworked. I noticed a few stray hairs in the bathtub and the towels were a bit thin and not of the quality we have always enjoyed from the Kimpton Boutique Hotels in the past. Valet staff were very friendly and most helpful. The Front Desk staff were always a bit "preoccupied". Bar and restaurant staff were also very accommodating without being overt. With a little tweaking, this could once again be of the excellent caliber we have come to expect from Kimpton.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the river are all very quiet.

Sounds like we have a little work to do. I would like to apologize for the housekeeping service and for the preoccupied staff members you encountered. That’s not like us! We will certainly use your feedback to improve our services. Thank you for the feedback.

We are a family of four and stayed at the RiverPlace for 3 nights. The room's layout was very well thought consisting of a separate bedroom for the adults and a TV room with sofa bed for the kids. The room was very clean when we arrived and all toiletries were stocked (luxurious ETRO shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and soap). The beds were really comfortable and we all slept very well. The staff were extremely polite and helpful and were responsive to our questions and needs. The hotel serves great coffee and tea between 6am and 9am with newspapers available to read. One night, staff were serving free delicious local beer and wine - it was a treat to be served the beverage after a long day of walking and sightseeing. The usual hallway noise was nonexistent due to the thick hotel room door and any hotel related outdoor activities (i.e., private functions) were continued indoors, at the stroke of 10pm, to prevent disruption for hotel guests. The hotel is on the Willamette River Boardwalk and we felt 100% safe all the time. The hotel is walking distance to the vibrant downtown core and buses (tour and transit) are conveniently accessible as well. We will definitely stay at the RiverPlace Hotel again and I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone who wants to be pampered and feel safe in Portland.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 4th floor about 15 metres north from the elevator and it was very quiet.

We made a great decision staying at the River Place in Portland. We stayed in Portland at the tail end of a week + long trip in the WA/OR area, and we had trouble picking the 'right' hotel since there are so many to choose from. We decided we wanted to be in a great location, but without the noise/congestion of the city which is exactly what RP provided. We really enjoyed the relaxed feeling of being on the water, and overlooking a park. The customer service was top notch - from valet (we were in/out for 3 days), front desk (lots of great recommendations) to the room - which was very comfortable and spacious. We are starting to notice a higher/personal standard of service at Kimpton which is worth the slight extra $ from traditional chains.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Jr. Suite, room was very quiet and spacious with separate living area from the sleepi...

You absolutely nailed the surrounding area in your review, quiet and comfortable but yet just a few minute walk from the center of town. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and thank you for the nice comments about our staff. See you soon,
