“Nice stay for an overnighter”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Initially disappointed that we had booked for a king bed plus sofa bed, only to find it wasn't a sofa bed, but a chair & ottoman. We needed the other bed so had to pay $20 to change to two oversized double beds. Also found no free wi-fi. What the heck? I haven't been in a hotel in the past 3 years that didn't have free wi-fi. Here, prepare to pay extra 12.95. Also prepare to pay $32 extra per night for parking. Fr a $288/night room, i would think we'd at least have free wi-fi, if not parking. Did not like how cramped the bathroom was and there was no bathroom fan. No fridge or microwave. Had we been willing to fork over another $20, we could have had a room facing the water.

However, the hotel was clean and staff was friendly and atmosphere was inviting. Our room was on 11th floor right across from the elevators. I was happy to find I didn't hear any hallway noise at all. Beds were comfortable, nice sheets, great location on the waterfront with lots going on. I wouldn't be opposed to staying here again, but for the money, might shop around for a better value.

Room Tip: If you want a room facing water, prepare to pay extra $20/night. At $288/night, ours was not facing...

This hotel is across the street from the Willamette River, Mill Ends City Park and River Place, a strip of waterfront shops and restaurants. The surrounding area is a nice, walkable downtown with many restaurant and shopping options, as well as public transport. While the hotel could use some remodeling, the amiable staff make you feel right at home. From the parking to the front desk to the concierge level staff, everyone went out of their way to make my stay most pleasant. One major drawback, however, was that valet parking was the only option if you have a car - and it was $35/ nite. There are lower priced parking options nearby, if you are trying to save a little cash.

Room Tip: If you want a scenic view, ask for a room facing the river. While you may hear traffic, you will see...

The lobby of the Marriott is very nice. Lots of places to sit and relax. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is very nice, right on the river and just a quick walk to nice places for a drink on the water. The rooms were very small for US Marriott standards. Smaller than the Marriott in Washington DC (and that is saying a lot, if you have ever been there). While everything was nice, you could tell the hotel needed a bit of a remodel. One thing to note is that the rooms do not have safes. This means you valuables

I only stayed here for 1 night neart the end of June with my friends, so there's not much to elaborate on but we had a decent stay! The room was directly across from the elevator which is a bonus and we didn't hear any noise at all.

Checked in late after 9:00pm (small wait, but quick) and was thrilled to know the hotel pool and hot tub were opened till 11:00pm (I think). It was very welcomed after a long day of power-shopping through Portland.

Room was on the smaller side, and to a slant but didn't mind at all. Two clean beds, an old tv, a desk, and an armchair. Bathroom was small and clean. A/C fan unit cooled the room long enough at night. Mattress and pillows were comfy!

Hung out at the hotel lobby and there were plenty of seating areas to sit around and use the free lobby wi-fi. I really liked that they had a iced water dispenser filled with lime slices, so it was refreshing! One of the valet guys also gave me a complimentary small bottle of water while I was waiting at the porte-cochere! Thanks!!

Wouldn't mind staying here again in the future.

A very good hotel right on the river in Portland! Spacious rooms, inviting public areas, a good lobby bar and friendly staff -- ingredients for an enjoyable experience. Our conference staff worked well with the hotel staff so there were few glitches in the arrangements. The meeting rooms were nicely furnished with just the right mixture of large and small for the variety of gatherings we planned. The continental breakfasts were bounteous with enough variety that everybody was satisfied. The breaks were very good with coffee, tea and interesting food. The lunches lacked creativity though were filling. I would have enjoyed menu that featured foods from the Northwest. The marina and river provided a beautiful backdrop for my stay. The hotel is a bit out of the way from the center of Portland, but streetcars and the MAX provide convenient access to the major attractions. Take time for a stroll along the river across the street and stop in for a cup of coffee at one of the cafes to relax and enjoy the beauty of Portland.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper level room that overlooks the river.

This hotel is well planned out; the bar is fun with a fun, original and tasty bar menu. The lobby is comfortable, lots of chairs and tables for gathering, meeting. We got a pretty good deal, so if you shop ahead, its a good value. The rooms are a little small, but the staff makes up for it. Friendly, helpful, everyone was great including the folks cleaning the rooms.

You have to pay for wi-fi which still blows my mind, but you can have one free day of it in the lobby. Parking isn't cheap either, it was over $30 a day.

All in all, we'd stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view; it's worth it. Book early to save $$

I came here because of a conference. I am seriously disappointed. #1: although there was supposed to be "conference rates", I had to pay full price. #2: cleanliness is mediocre: because I like to walk, and my room was on the 5th floor, I used the stairwell frequently. It was dusty and unkept. #3: I stayed 6 nights; the 2nd day, my room was not cleaned due to the number of check-ins; in addition, my room was not completely cleaned in subsequent evenings (dirty glasses left until I left a note); #4: although I came due to a conference, it was not until my third evening that I was told I could have free internet in my room.. Really? in this day and age you have to PAY for internet access? C'mon, folks, it's 2013!!!!!!!! #5: Although it was easy because the conference was located here, the room was very overpriced. it is not central to the city, there is no airport service. Conference was GREAT; hotel was mediocre. I did not pay mediorcre rates for stay and am VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Room Tip: not here unless you have to
