“Really eclectic and well thought out menu”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

The choices of ingredients and menu construction by the chef are superb. The food, especially the soups, is tasty to say the least. Each of the menu items bring together a unique array of ingredients that surprisingly go well together. Definitely worth a try. 3 degrees is one of my favorite lunchtime destinations, especially in the summer with its supremely prime location alongthe river. The traffic from the adjacent bridge is actually quite soothing when sitting outdoors, as it is reminiscent of overlapping ocean waves. It is quite accidental white noise. The service has been excellent every time I have dined here. The servers, especially Charley who served me most recently provide spot on detailed descriptions of the menu items... and more importantly are able to help you decide on what to eat. Thumbs up to another fine Kimpton eatery.

“Would go back, but not as my first choice.”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

We had to wait about 20 minutes for our table, even though we had reservations. Server was vague about drink specialties, and about the food choices.
Unusual menu choices, and nothing any of our party of 5 ordered was outstanding.
Pricey, with little satisfaction on the back end.
Beautiful view, but not worthy of seeking out.

“Talented Chef and a superior dining experience!”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

I gotta tell you! This restaurant is really, really special. The relatively new chef something Dunklin is a talented man. He apparently was the founder of Dunklin' Donuts (joking) Seriously tho we shared 6 dishes a crab and watermelon appetizer that was outrageous a salad that was kind of a retro iceberg thing excellent. a cold root crop plate w beets fingerling potatoes etc Incredible! A black cod appetizer/small plate Im dying! Halibut Up w the best and Ive done Alaska! and a meatless meatloaf thing done w eggplant mushrooms Psychedelic! Service was friendly and responsive. The setting on the river Come on ! This is a hotel restaurant and should become popular. No bread no salt and pepper on the table. Frankly that works for us ! Great experience in a town w a lot of wonderful places to eat !

“Not your average hotel food!”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

On our visit to Portland this week we stayed at our favorite boutique line of hotels, Kimpton, at their Riverplace property on the river. This restaurant is located in the same building as the hotel so after a very long day driving, we decided to eat local. What a surprise! The food was delicious. The service excellent. And the location on the balcony overlooking the river was wonderful. We were even able to have the pooch sit next to our table. We went for the kale salad for starters. It was absolutely delicious. Then we had two small plates, cod and the shrimp. Both were excellent tasting, well presented and enough for two light eaters. We went for the apple crisp for dessert which hit the spot. The waiter was quite knowledgable about the various eateries in the area, especially the best ones for locals. We will definitely return here before we leave this week.
