“Meh - Not Portland at its best”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

I recently dined at Brix with a friend for restaurant month. The regular menu has a lot of offerings, although not many vegetarian selections (I am not a vegetarian, but am on the look out for y'all). The food is advertised as comfort food - meaning heavy, creamy or fried dishes. While service was good and my meal was ok, it wasn't up to Portland's dining standards. There was nothing particularly special and while the restaurant week price (My bill totaled $37 for salad, entree, dessert, one glass of wine and coffee) was modest for the courses/serving size, I still think one can have higher quality for the same expense. If you are a Portlander, this is not likely your scene - a bit of meat market atmosphere. If you are visitor, there are so many other outstanding options in town, why waste your time.

“More than just a sports bar”
Reviewed May 5, 2012

Although the ostensible draws are the large TV screens, liberal happy hour menus, and variety of specialty drinks (none of which is generally on our radar), Brix has quickly become a favorite for a casual meal when we're downtown. We often simply make a meal of the appetizer variety, many of which are not the typical mixture of fried carbs with cheese. The simple shrimp plate is a common choice for us; although we generally don't order pizza (carbs with cheese), our pizza sampling was worth spending the dietary trade-offs.

The staff are prompt, attentive, and friendly. The order is accurate, and the coffee is good (even in Portland, some places haven't figured out that it matters).
