We just returned from four nights at Portland's White House. Our whole administrative team stayed and took up the whole B & B. We absolutely loved it! They accomodated our weird breakfast schedules and provided everything we asked for. The beds were fantastic, the rooms were clean and the daily cookie was delicious. I would highly recommend Protland's White House and personally plan to stay there on any future trips to Portland. p.s. The neighborhood is wonderful with great restaurants and really lovely for long walks/runs.

We loved our stay at Portland's White House so much we were inspired to create an on line video to share with all. Professional and friendly staff made it a wonderful stay. Elegant and charming interior. Fabulous breakfasts, and the ohhhh-so-awesome freshly-baked, chocolate chip butterscotch oatmeal cookies delivered daily to our room. Can't wait to go back! My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The ambiance is very nice. It's quiet and off the main street, but so close to everything. We had a car and drove to several locations that were downtown or in the Pearl District, and everything was about 10 minutes away or less. The owners don't seem to be too involved any longer, there's just the two who run the place on a daily basis, but that's not big deal. They were very friendly and the food was great at breakfast. The bed was oh so comfy and provided a great night's sleep. Each room has individual thermostats so comfort is not a problem. The only thing we found strange was that some other visitors were not very friendly at breakfast and didn't say much...isn't that supposed to be what staying at a B&B is all about? We look forward to meeting new people in the morning and hearing their stories, but some just want to eat and go without even saying good morning. Too bad. But the dinner recommendation made by the staff was great too - try Andina's if you like tapas. The downside in my mind is the price. A lesser expensive room is something like $155 or $160 a night and if you are only there mostly for the late evening and the morning breakfast you really don't get that much out of the place for that price.

Our stay at Portland's White House was absolutely wonderful. The inn keeper, Amara, was friendly, gracious and attentive to all of our needs. Breakfasts from chefs Justin and Sean were gourmet meals which started with fresh fruit and freshly-brewed coffee and/or orange juice. We felt like royalty in this unique home filled with antiques, paintings and sculpture, all set in an historic Portland neighborhood. And those chocolate chip, butterscotch, oatmmeal cookes are to-die-for! Our hats off to Lanning and his wonderful staff.

Our visit to the White House B & B started with Amara's most cheerful greeting. Her attention to our needs and wants during our two night stay created a most enjoyable get away for my wife and me. Sean, the chef, was equally enjoyable as both of them engaged in good conversation with us frequently. The home offers its visitors very comfortable suites to retreat to for privacy while the main floor provides a large living room with plenty of seating and a game room adjacent. The White House is filled with wonderful period furniture, art and decorations that you won't help but appreciate. From the Tiffany leaded windows to the ornate woodwork, the details of this home make it one of our favorites.
