Teresa and her staff were extremely pleasant and warming. We checked-in late, the directions given regarding late check-in were made very clear and detailed. No problems what-so-ever, and I look forward to staying with them again sometime!

We rented out the entire main house for the weekend of my son's college graduation. The house was every bit as lovely as the photos show, immaculate, warm and inviting. The rooms were spacious, the bathrooms charming and tubs large and luxurious. The beds were among the most comfortable I've ever stayed in away from home and we usually stay in 4 and 5 star hotels. Lanning and his staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and provide for our stay. Breakfasts were scrumptious, always with fresh fruit and top quality ingredients. We had a great family gathering, played guitars and sang into the late hours of the night and my son loved being able to play the grand piano. What a treat! I hope to make this our place to stay when visiting Portland in the future. Thank Lanning!

With a B & B you want more than a place to just stay. You expect a well run, clean Inn. It is the extras that make it special. The White House has it all. Excellent location in a fabulous neighborhood for early morning walks; unbelievable breakfast that makes lunch unnecessary; and an owner with a personality.

Also, the price must be a mistake as it is so reasonable.

We had our Wedding Week-End Event at the Portland's White House - awesome place, great hosts - Lanning made the entire experience the best time of our life - we will always remember the great food, beautiful accommodations, nice neighborhood and such fun! Lanning made all of our guests feel like they were in their own homes. Every detail was perfect! Lanning helped with all details and coordination and we just had to show up and have a good time. All the extra special details in the rooms and for meals made this an awesome lifetime experience.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are fabulous!

A classic Portland mansion worth the stay just for the historicity. Lovely details throughout. All the modern amenities you could wish for (ok, the big screen TV wasn't big - and I didn't care). The food was prepared by a skilled chef and exceeded my expectations. The hosts were kind, helpful, and unobtrusive. Truly, a once in a lifetime opportunity to enjoy a classic mansion in a great city!

Room Tip: We chose the cheapest room, and were upgraded to the main house. The side rooms are larger, but the...

We decided to try something we had talked about for years--a camping trip in a VW Eurovan Camper. The White House owners have both a beautiful B and B and from that location, they rent vans through RoadtripOregon.com The B and B had delicious food and super comfortable and elaborately decorated rooms. The van is fully equipped with a fridge, two burner stove, a sink, and a pop top so you can standup. During the day, it seats at least 4 people and at night you can cook, warm up the van with the special heater, play cards and then pull down the two beds to sleep. Our first night out to the central oregon coast...it misted and rained. We felt so happy to be in the van and by morning the rain had stopped enough to hike on the beach. In fact, it only rained three times and each time, we were fast asleep. Being able to stop anywhere...like Jedediah Smith State Park in northern California...and camp by the river itself, is just the best. Driving the van is as easy as driving an ordinary automobile, so we were able to share the driving over a two week period. We would highly recommend this type of travel, particularly having the confidence that Chris and Lanning would be available, if we needed help on the road. Other great camping locations we found along the way were Vandam State Park in Mendecino, CA; Black Butte Lake in California; and Silver Falls State Park in Oregon.

We stayed here on a recent trip to Portland and what a lovely inn it is! All of the details made this the most memorable stay we had on our 6 day trip to Oregon. The antiques are exquisite and are literally everywhere in the hotel. The architecture is beautiful, and wows you when first see it and makes you say "Yes, this is where I want to stay!" It is set in a most idyllic neighborhood and surprisingly the quietest stay we had, even though located within city limits, not far to shopping on charming Broadway St and to LLoyd Center with mall, park and conference center. The bed was a 4 poster antique and very comfortable. The "bread pudding French toast" for breakfast, with eggs and applewood smoked bacon, plus fresh juice and dark roasted specialty coffee, was yummy and a substantial way to start the day. Teresa, Alex and Lanning are such great hosts, with their hospitality and warm greeting. Loved the freshly homebaked cookies upon arrival, with white and dark chocolate, made from the inn's secret recipe. Nice touch!
