“Always a good meal”

Great for groups, sharing and experimenting with new food. Try the tasting menu - lots of food and they normally save the best until last.

Also dive into the sangria!

“Portland Favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

Having been to Barcelona, I can say that this place serves authentic tapas, and is consistently a pleasing experience. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the restaurant itself maintains a not too fancy atmosphere. I love Toro Bravo, and would definitely recommend it as Portland's top tapas bar.

“best tapas ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

Been to this restaurant many times now and each time something new to blow me away. I've tasted more perfectly cooked vegetables here done simple but different ways (e.g. first time I had grilled asparagus several years ago and now make it myself all the time). Last time we Arugula Fritters that were so awesome we ordered a second batch. Never been disappointed. Go early and avoid the crowds.

“Nice Dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Based primarily on other TripAdvisor reviews, Toro Bravo was visited for dinner this evening. Since I was alone, and this is a tapas bar, I ordered a selection of cheeses, bread, and a glass of wine (Oregon Pinot Noir). This "dinner" was delicious, and satisfying.

“Great food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

My first tapas experience. I ah read that there were long waits, particularly on Saturday PM when they do not take reservations. So we arrived before opening and waited. It was fascinating to watch as over 100 people poured into this restaurant, filling every table within 10 minutes of opening! What a challenge for a kitchen! To keep it simple, we ordered the Chef's tasting menu. And a bottle of Cava. The courses started arriving promptly. A salad with bacon chunks. Bread with olive oil and butter. A pâté with crostini. Shrimp, fried with no breading, in the shell. Broccoli rabe. Then an intermission. A lamb ragu over eggplant topped with cheese. Summer squash with tomatoes and a soft cheese. And a casserole of Moroccan chicken with squash and tomatoes. Wow! The lamb was my favorite, with a rich flavor. A round of coffee and a couple of desserts to share.

The food was the highlight. The restaurant was attractive and comfortable. The noise was very loud. Hard to have conversation at the table. Even though the tables were not close together, he noise level of the restaurant was very high. But all together a satisfying evening.
