It has been awhile since we first visited Le Pigeon. This small, store front, restaurant located located on the East side of the river (a short 5 minute cab ride <$10 from downtown) is simply excellent. The "family-style" seating is unique and quite frankly, enjoyable for a change. The wine menu is extensive and the food menu changes regularly, if not daily.

Last night the chef's fish special was salmon. I know, Ho-Hum, another west coast serving of salmon. I must tell you that it was THE best we have ever had and believe me, we have had plenty!

THE Lady of our family has extensive food allergies and the chef went out of his way to prepare an excellent meal. Kudos!

Reservations are a must. The service was attentive and very good.

The reviews and recommendations were far and wide reaching for Le Pigeon.

The food was almost impeccable (not good for the price range they charge ... it should be totally impeccable) ... the Squab (namesake of the restaurant) was superb as were the salmon entree and crab cake starters we ordered. The problem was that the lamb shoulder was just to tough to eat comfortably and that was truly disappointing ...

The service was also a bit slow and the ambiance a bit too noisy ... disappointed.

Seared Salmon; Quail; Chicken; and Lamb. Four of us had these for dinner recently in Portland Oregon, during a "Pinot Noir" tasting run to the Willamette valley. It is a tiny place, so reservations must be made well in advance of visiting, but it's well worth the effort. It has a very eclectic menu (the Quail was stuffed with Foie Gras, the Salmon served on a bed of risotto), and each dish was wonderfully prepared. It's fairly expensive, but not over the top.

Travellers from afar - your attention is drawn to this wonderful little storefront restaurant. It has a superb menu with a range from standards to something a little edgy. The Chefs are wonderful to watch - real masters and in a low key way great performers. My advice is try for the barstool seating if you are only a couple. Also book well in advance. We happened into town and were very lucky to get a cancellation.

Wonderful ambiance and service. It was an amazing culinary experience with every morsel of food being very special, both in presentation and flavor. Will absolutely be back.
