Seared Salmon; Quail; Chicken; and Lamb. Four of us had these for dinner recently in Portland Oregon, during a "Pinot Noir" tasting run to the Willamette valley. It is a tiny place, so reservations must be made well in advance of visiting, but it's well worth the effort. It has a very eclectic menu (the Quail was stuffed with Foie Gras, the Salmon served on a bed of risotto), and each dish was wonderfully prepared. It's fairly expensive, but not over the top.

Travellers from afar - your attention is drawn to this wonderful little storefront restaurant. It has a superb menu with a range from standards to something a little edgy. The Chefs are wonderful to watch - real masters and in a low key way great performers. My advice is try for the barstool seating if you are only a couple. Also book well in advance. We happened into town and were very lucky to get a cancellation.

Wonderful ambiance and service. It was an amazing culinary experience with every morsel of food being very special, both in presentation and flavor. Will absolutely be back.

We just ate at Le Pigeon and were told by local foodies we were lucky to have gotten a reservation. Nice build-up for someplace I won't be back to.

The experience starts at the front door which because of the seating and customers, can't be opened without bumping someone. Once you are inside the overwhelming noise level makes normal conversation difficult at best.

Staff was friendly but visits by our waiter were few and far between leaving my glass dry for long periods.

Bread & butter were brought to the table almost 30 minutes after we sat down, dinner took much, much longer after that.

The menu is limited to a few items, all of it very Portlandy. Lots of unusual flavors that don't quite hit the mark and were a turn off.

The prices here are the same as the noise level... High! Two dinners, one appetizer, a coke and corkage for our own wine was $100. The corkage fee alone was $20! Really, that much to open a bottle of wine? It goes along with the $3.50 for a small bottle of Coke.

I was not impressed by the pigeon.

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful the food is at Le Pigeon. It is a gastronomic adventure. Loved it, loved it! Be aware it is communal dining in small a space.
