With our dramatically tall ceilings, an entire wall of fourteen-foot tall windows, keep the dining room lively yet mysterious. The warm ambiance of rich red, green, gold and black decor beckons diners to relax and savor the brilliant flavors of Italian cooking served in a luxurious yet Portland-esque casual atmosphere. The rich, black granite bar is a perfect spot for one of our delicious signature cocktails, many made with our own house-infused spirits. Both the sixty-inch and forty-inch high-definition televisions are the perfect place to watch your favorite sporting events while you sit back and relax. Our entire food menu is served throughout the day at the most comfortable bar in downtown Portland. Our location, the historic Waldo Building, built in 1886, is easily visible on one of the most traveled corners in Downtown Portland at the intersection of SW Washington Street and 2nd Avenue, just feet away from great shopping at Pioneer Place, the waterfront, mass transit and some of the most visited attractions in downtown. So plan something special and meet your friends, family, and colleagues at Mama Mia Trattoria. Our old school Italian-American soul food, like that offered at the best restaurants in "Little Italy's" across the United States, will exceed your expectations. A nice find and I was really impressed with the service and food. went on Mother's Day for dinner, it was fully packed (as expected) and the 3 course menu that was set for that day was really nice. We were able to select from the various options for each course (starter, main, dessert), the variety of options was nice. Despite being a "full house" on Mother's Day, I found the atmosphere and the service to be really good. The staff worked hard that day!

“An all-around great experience”
Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

Great service, great food, great value. From the moment we walked in, the staff made me feel as if it was all about us. A very reasonable wine list with a large assortment. Be advised, one entree is enough for two. In hind-sight, we would have done one appetizer and shared an entree. Anyway, don't hesitate to give this one a try!

“Mangia! Mangia!”
Reviewed May 20, 2014 via mobile

We were visiting Portland and decided to try this restaurant for my fiancés birthday.
*Staff is super friendly
*Decor is nicely done; love all the mirrors on the back wall.
*Lots of free bread.

*Small waiting area; it was a Saturday night and it was extremely busy but no where to wait unless you went outside.
*Due to the business, wait staff seemed stretched and therefore service was slow.
*We ordered fried ravioli and you get 3 medium sized pieces; they weren't fried long enough and seemed kinda of chewy.
*I ordered pesto pasta with chicken. It was just ok. I didn't feel like the chicken was flavored much.
*My fiancé ordered the manicotti with a meatball. He liked the meatball but said the noodles were too overcooked.

“Buono Brunch - Don't Miss The Bacon Bloody Mary!”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

My wife and I wound up here for Mother’s Day brunch after declining an hour plus wait around the corner at Mothers. Good karma for sure.

We were greeted enthusiastically and seated promptly in a smaller quiet alcove off the main dining room. I ordered a Bloody Mary (which we had spied at the bar) which is expertly garnished – including crispy bacon! It was one of the best I’ve ever had and the bacon was surprisingly a perfect accompaniment. We started with rosemary scones which were more flaky biscuit-like rather than a typical dense scone – but absolutely excellent. Spread with the marrion berry jam they were just decadent. My wife had the pesto scramble and I had the sausage frittata and both were terrific and accompanied by hash browns. The wheat toast was out of this world and the coffee dark and delicious.

The service staff was excellent and expertly attentive making the whole dining experience a perfect start to Mother’s Day. Hoping we get a chance to try Mama Mia for dinner the next time we’re in Portland.
