Description: When you dine at Mama Mia Trattoria, Portland's Italian tradition, you've taken a step back in time into a traditional Italian kitchen where memories come to life with authentic southern Italian meals and the genuine hospitality of people who love delicious and genuine Italian dishes. At Mama Mia Trattoria our meals are prepared from scratch every day, with only the freshest ingredients. Our sauces and meatballs simmer all day to add the perfect flavor and essence to our expertly crafted dishes. We are committed to providing the highest quality food and service by sparing no expense and by using only the best local products and sustainable resources available. Here at Mama Mia Trattoria, we take pride in our daily, freshly made pastas, mozzarella cheese, and our scrumptious homemade desserts. We even make our Italian ice cream and sorbet daily. At Mama Mia Trattoria, you'll find timeless favorites like chicken, veal, and eggplant parmigiana, handmade ravioli, lasagna, manicotti, gnocchi and countless other pastas, pizzas, chicken and seafood dishes, all made from scratch and cooked to perfection. Our dining room sparkles with over twenty crystal chandeliers and nearly fifty gilded mirrors. Our marble tables are reminiscent of those found in many Trattorias throughout Italy. With our dramatically tall ceilings, an entire wall of fourteen-foot tall windows, keep the dining room lively yet mysterious. The warm ambiance of rich red, green, gold and black decor beckons diners to relax and savor the brilliant flavors of Italian cooking served in a luxurious yet Portland-esque casual atmosphere. The rich, black granite bar is a perfect spot for one of our delicious signature cocktails, many made with our own house-infused spirits. Both the sixty-inch and forty-inch high-definition televisions are the perfect place to watch your favorite sporting events while you sit back and relax. Our entire food menu is served throughout the day at the most comfortable bar in downtown Portland. Our location, the historic Waldo Building, built in 1886, is easily visible on one of the most traveled corners in Downtown Portland at the intersection of SW Washington Street and 2nd Avenue, just feet away from great shopping at Pioneer Place, the waterfront, mass transit and some of the most visited attractions in downtown. So plan something special and meet your friends, family, and colleagues at Mama Mia Trattoria. Our old school Italian-American soul food, like that offered at the best restaurants in "Little Italy's" across the United States, will exceed your expectations. “Fun atmosphere, Great Service, Hearty Meals”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

After a good ol' Portland downpour and a visit to the Portland Art Museum, we were ready for a warm Italian meal. I had the lasagne special. It was just what we needed. I took half of it home. I'd say the food is good but not surprisingly good. The service was excellent. Separate checks were no problem at all. Prices including wine were very reasonable. I'll always remember the chandeliers on a rainy night.

“Awesome breakfast”
Reviewed March 23, 2014 via mobile

Who would think of an Italian restaurant for breakfast, right? It was our good fortune the wait at the popular breakfast place next door was too long, and we took a second look at the menu outside Mama Mia.

Their breakfast menu is amazing yet affordable upscale versions of traditional fare. Our party of four ordered different items and they were all delicious.

The service was prompt and cheerful without being over the top.
Definitely a new breakfast go to place

“Wish we had gone to Spaghetti Factory”
Reviewed March 22, 2014 via mobile

We took our 14 yr old daughter & her 2 friends out for her birthday. I split the lasagna with my wife, and it was good--very cheesy, and good flavor, though kinda heavy. Two of the girls split the fettuccine alfredo. Neither of them cared for it, saying it was too "strong " tasting-- I tried a taste & agreed--tasted like the cheese used in it was too strong or bitter. Considering we paid $14 - $18 for each of the entrees, (and that didn't include a dinner salad), We would have been much happier, and gotten better value had we gone to Spaghetti Factory. And they give you a bowl of ice cream with your meal:)
