“Great location and staff, but noisy”
Reviewed January 3, 2007

Good: The hotel staff is the nicest in the business, professional and will bend over backward to make things happen. They helped us get to the metro, shopping and get a room due to weather problems at the airport.

The hotel is nice and the pool and hot tub are great. It is easy to get to the metro and walk along the river.

Bad:

This hotel is very convenient to everything, but the airport. It sits right on the end of the runway, but you have to travel 20-30 minutes from the terminal to get to it. So be warned…this is not an airport hotel. Their shuttle waited for ½ hour to pick up a guest that was staying at some condo, I complained to the driver. He radio the hotel and they said he waited ….after about 10 minutes and seeing no one around at 1100 PM, I said lets go. When I got to the Residence Inn I complained to the desk clerk, she said the Courtyard Hotel (across the street) controls the shuttle. I never figured out the condo thing. Lesson learned call to the hotel early for a shuttle pickup or stay at another hotel if just staying overnight.

The hotel is near a busy freeway, river way, railroad and the airport, so it is noise all hours of the night/day. It seemed like they could have done a better job of noise proofing the place.

Ugly: The breakfast bar is lame and lack any fresh fruit other then oranges and very limited on food selection.

We booked an end of summer weekend stay at this hotel using Marriott Rewards points, mainly because of the outdoor pool, and had a great experience.

The hotel was brand-new. Our suite was spacious and had high quality finishes -- granite counters in the kitchen and bathroom and even window sills. The shower was great too. Some units are larger and have gas fireplaces, but we had the regular size. Still, there was plenty of extra room compared to a regular size hotel room. The hotel also has a sports court and a nice outdoor sitting area with a fireplace. Also, a business center/library with a computer and lots of newer books. The exercise room was small but had the basics covered - 2 treadmills, a stairmaster, and set of free weights with bench. The treadmills were the nice Precor type.

The service was excellent, as was the complimentary breakfast (included several hot entrees). The hotel is located in a mostly industrial area, but is fairly secluded. We very much enjoyed relaxing by the pool, which is screened off and quite private. There is a Courtyard across the street, and about 3 restaurants within walking distance in a little shopping center.

In summary, this hotel offers excellent value and service and we would defintely recommend it.

Wow! We had just moved to Portland and needed a place to stay for one night with our helpful movers (family from out of town). I called the Lloyd Center location and they were booked, but I was referred to the North Harbor location. This hotel had opened the previous Friday and it was immaculate. There is a pool, hot tub, and get this- a basketball/volleyball court. The rooms were so nice. Our suite slept 5 people very comfortably. The front desk clerk, Stephanie, made sure that our every need was taken care of. The price ($169 for a 2 bedroom/6 person suite) included a full cooked breakfast. This breakfast was incredible- eggs, potatoes, biscuits/gravy, etc. We plan to have all visiting family stay at this hotel in the future. This was by far the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in.
