When I was there I saw so many giant white and yellow butterflies fluttering around. Nice picnic tables to sit and relax under so many big trees. The pond is pretty. And I'm sure there is a redwood next to that pond. I've tried looking it up to confirm and found a little information leading me to believe it might be true. Keep a look out for a gigantic orange-golden tree right next to the pond on the north-east end.

Our B&B the Portland Mayor's Mansion is set adjacent to Laurelhurst Park ... we went on our last day in Portland ... mistake!

We should have gone everyday. The park is clean, well maintained and the giant trees are something you will get in few places in the world ... particularly a nice park in the Pacific NW.

Very nice for a stroll and to wind down in Portland.

This park is huge and it's free. It has many spots where you can sit and enjoy the view (grass and lake) while letting the children run around. It also has a great playground area and basketball courts (which tend to get pretty full). The Portland Church of Christ hosts it's annual Easter Egg Hunt there (the Saturday prior to Easter Sunday) www.portlandchurch.org/calendar whether there is sunshine, rain, sleet or snow (smiles) which has been really fun for the kids and a very friendly environment for the parents also. In the summer the park does movies at dusk. The Park is also near Peacock Lane where you can stop by for candy on Halloween and for a few weeks around Christmas time when the street is all decked out with beautiful and creative displays.

This is a beautiful park with many walking paths. It's near the Hawthorne district, a fun place to shop and hang out. Have walked the dog here a few time, seen concerts and plays here, and just spent time. In my view, a very enjoyable place to spend some time when you have it.

On nice days, this park can be a fun jaunt. It has a paved loop that makes repetitious laps kind of enjoyable...
