Portland is a great city with a million things to do. MAX has been a very expensive undertaking for us taxpayers but unfortunately, the cost to ride is still high and it's just not safe. There are stabbings, shootings and arrests on the news every day. I do not advise tourists to our city to ride it. Get an Uber instead.

Took the Max frequently on our 3-day trip to Portland, including from the airport and to- and from Washington Park. Clean and fast. A bargain at $2.50 per ride or $5 for a one-day pass. I used the app, which was quite convenient. (Just make sure your phone doesn't die.)

Easy to use and cheap. I wish there were paper maps to grab at the stops or on the Max to carry around town with you, but otherwise well done.

I love the idea of having an on street rail that is quiet, cheap and extremely accessible. We used it to go out to the airport, down into city center, to OMSI, and through the tunnel to Washington Park. Bravo Portland! Also, they don't check whether you have a ticket. We bought ours but who would know the difference ;)

Whenever I visit a city that has light rail, I always give it a try. Sure beats renting a car and trying to find parking or paying fees for hotel parking. MAX is easy to use, especially when it's only $5 for an all day pass. And given traffic in the city, you get to your destination in the same or less time than driving a car.
