“Get downtown without a hassle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012

If you are visiting Portland and don't want to hassle with traffic and parking, the MAX might be for you. It goes to the Airport and out to the Zoo. It goes to the Convention Center and the Rose Garden. It offers one way passes, and daily passes. Be careful about your belongings on the trains as opportunists are always a possibility. The trains are usually clean. Lots of business people during commute times. More interesting citizens later at night.

“A Regular Rider”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2012

This is the only way to go if you want to go downtown or to the Rose Quarter. It stops at Pioneer Courthouse Square, Lloyd Center, both shopping districts with everything a short walk away. In summer the train stops right in front of the Saturday Market, so it is super convenient. I love to show off the city to out of town guests by taken them on the MAX to shop & have lunch. It is also a great option to ride to the airport as it pulls right into the terminal. I have never had a bad experience on this train.

“Easy to use for simple trips”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

This is a great resource for travelers or just taking the kids out to a location along the route. Perfect for getting into town on from the airport! Buy your tix ahead of time - they are NOT available on the train. Security does sweeps at various stops for safety and ticket fraud.
I use to use this transport to get into work - when I lived in Vancouver - park & ride. It was useful - but not quick. MAX is best for: getting back/forth to the airport from downtown or point along the main routes... transfers are not quick. Taking it out to the zoo - this is one of the deepest metro stop in the world...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Park_(MAX_station)
Parking in downtown Portland is usually not that bad - but if there is an event or some holiday craziness - it's sometimes fun to park & ride and take the train to downtown.

“THE BEST RIDE IN TOWN...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2012

With the four routes all over town and in all directions, MAX is unquestionably the best and the most efficient ride in Portland and vicinity...Its almost 100% reliable and the "fare" is just "fair" during this unpredictable times in economy...The route to and from Portland international Airport is so convenient for local and foreign travellers alike...Safety is not a problem but please pay your fare(s) for the fine will bring your mode in gray...(-:

“Convenient”

Works as scheduled and it's a nice alternative to driving. You just need to plan extra time since it does too many stops.
