“Overlooked rose garden”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

Peninsula Park's rose garden is top notch but is usually not on one's radar given the incredible rosé garden located in Washington Park. However, it is a garden worth visiting, located in a part of Portland not immediately on the tourist trail. It is worth the time to visit.

“Gorgeous rose garden, fountain”
Reviewed February 28, 2014

The Peninsula Park Rose Garden is the first rose garden in Portland. It is a sunken garden, with paths, a large fountain in the middle, gorgeous during rose season. There's a cupola above the garden that is great for small weddings. I officiated at a wedding in October, 2013 - just an informal, simple wedding - so we just used the space without reserving it. Easy place for a quick wedding ceremony! Plus the park has children's area, picnic tables, etc. AND there's an outdoor swimming pool! Great place on a hot summer day in Portland town.

“Great urban rose test garden!”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

Situated less than eight blocks from the I-5 Rosa Parks Way exit, the Peninsula Park Rose Garden is a highlight to see from late spring throughout the summer. There are many varieties of roses in an slightly sunken garden area. The bandstand in the middle is used for various events, and there are a lot of summer weddings scheduled in the area, sometimes two at a time.

“Sweet Sweet Roses”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

Who knew there were so many breeds of roses?! Usually when you smell a rose you think "smells like a rose" but while visiting I realized that roses have many different scents. It sounds kind of funny, but it was such a great experience. I enjoyed taking pictures and smelling the hundreds of types of roses! Definitely go here if you are in the Portland area!

“This is NOT the International Rose Test Garden”
Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

Almost every one of these reviews is for THE Rose Garden in Washington Park. Even the photo at top is for that park. But this is a listing for the entirely different Peninsula Park & Rose Garden in North Portland. It's a very nice park, and the roses here are bountiful, but don't go here expecting spectacular (or any!) city views or gift shop, etc.
