Enjoyed hearing world concert violinist and the Oregon Symphony play in this classic concert hall. The acoustics are great in both the orchestra level and the dress circle upstairs. The ambiance of the Schnitz is impressive with artistic architecture and amenities of a bygone era. An evening of amazing music and the atmosphere is enchanting. The theater is surrounded by fine restaurants, parks and shopping in downtown Portland, Oregon.

The building is charming, sound in the Hall is heavenly! We were lucky enough to get tickets to Steely Dan (one of my husband's all time favorite bands) while we were visiting Portland. The show date happened to coincide with his 50th birthday, so the tickets made a wonderful birthday present. We of course loved the show, but were also very impressed with this venue. Would love to return for another show, on another visit to Portland.

Beautiful venue - we were on the floor and we really liked that the floor sloped so you were not looking at the back of someone's head. It is truly a lovely place.

Have seen many great concerts here and have always enjoyed the seating. It's worth the money to get good seats early for your favorite performer. Seen the Oregon Symphony there many times and always a fantastic show.

As an inveterate concert goer, I've heard great orchestras in great halls around the world. While the Schnitzer Concert Hall, a converted movie palace, is not in the league with halls in NYC, Boston, Cleveland, Vienna, etc., it is better than most. When booking a seat, try to avoid orchestra level seats underneath the large balcony, where acoustics are less good. On the other hand, seats in the rear of the balcony have remarkably good sound and great sight lines, though you might want opera glasses to watch soloists emote.

The hall is home to the Oregon Symphony, which is a very fine ensemble. It has performed to glowing reviews on tour at Carnegie Hall, and has consistently delivered fine to stunning performances of some of the most difficult pieces in the repertory.
